Kimmel Center Hosts Birthday Bash To Celebrate 7 Years Of Free Monthly 'Sittin' In' Concert Series  Image

Sittin' In: Live Sessions, the Kimmel Center's FREE, monthly concert series, celebrates its 7th anniversary with an annual Birthday Bash for the program AND for curator/program creator Anthony Tidd in Commonwealth Plaza with a full lineup featuring some of Sittin' In's popular performers.

The evening will feature performances from some of Sittin' In's most memorable artists, including:

  • Sittin' In founder and curator Anthony Tidd
  • Philly legend and Grammy nominated artist Orrin Evans
  • Sarah Vaughn Competition winner and UArts alum Laurin Talese
  • Vocal powerhouse Lady Alma
  • Master trombonist Ernest Stuart
  • Celebrated poet Ursula Rucker
  • Drummer Khary Shaheed
  • And many more!

Hosted by Stacey "Flygirrl" Wilson, the Birthday Bash also includes an early warm-up set by DJ lil'dave.

The Kimmel Center's monthly Sittin' In series introduces audiences to new cutting-edge artists defying genre, with everything from straight-ahead jazz to freestyle hip hop and all points in between.

Each live session gives attendees the opportunity to dance, relax, and listen to exceptional music in an informal club-like setting.

The Sittin' In Birthday Bash celebrates not only the program's birthday, but also Sittin' In founder and curator Anthony Tidd's birthday. Tidd currently acts as the Kimmel Center's Jazz Artistic Advisor - as an internationally-renowned jazz artist and education, he brings 20+ years of expertise as a performer, producer, and teacher to both programmatic and educational activities on the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus.
