In celebration of Michael Urie's birthday, we bring you a special clip of his performance. A longtime friend to BroadwayWorld.com, during his sold-out run of BUYER & CELLAR, he made time to come to JOE'S PUB to be part of our 10th Anniversary. At the event, he performed a special piece, written by BUYER & CELLAR Playwright's Jonathan Tolins, entitled MY PASSION FOR OZ.

Broadway is abuzz with news about NBC's upcoming presentation of The Wiz, with Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige and original Dorothy Stephanie Mills all having just signed on to star. They aren't the only ones with love for The Wiz though. In celebration of this week's big news, we bring you our own concert highlights of The Wiz, including performances of 'So You Wanted to See the Wizard?,' 'Be A Lion,' 'Home,' 'If You Believe,' and of course, 'Ease on Down the Road.'

It was hard to believe that it had been 20 years since Roslyn Kind has appeared in a nightclub in New York City before Kind made her sold out, first appearance at 54 Below last year. Well, great news world -- she's back this weekend, and we're told that the show will feature even more songs for the return engagement! Check out highlights from last year's appearance below.

As previously reported, Liza Minnelli recently announced her full recovery from her back surgery and gave a surprise performance in Hollywood earlier this month. The 68-year-old appeared on stage at Cortes Alexander's annual holiday show at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal in Hollywood, CA, on December 22 to support her close friend. The star went on to perform a duet of 'I Love a Violin' with Alexander and received a standing ovation from the enthusiastic crowd, which included Barbra Streisand's son Jason Gould and half-sister Roslyn Kind. The entertainer, whose sister is the legendary actress and singer Barbra Streisand, told hosts Kathie Lee and Hoda that it was stressful being compared to the famous star when she first started in the business.

Streisand is currently touring North America, selling out from Brooklyn to LA, and yesterday performed at Montreal's Bell Centre where she performed 'Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again' - the duet arrangement Judy Garland and Streisand made famous on The Judy Garland Show - with her sister, Roslyn Kind.

Continuing its six year reign as the most popular and award-winning supper club of its kind in the greater Los Angeles area, dedicated to presenting the best of Broadway performers and nightclub artists dedicated to the Great American Songbook, Sterling's Upstairs had its Grand Opening Sunday, April 1st at The Federal Bar and Restaurant in North Hollywood's trendy NoHo Arts District. Sterling's presented Bruce Kimmel's Kritzerland production of Take Me Along: The Songs of Bob Merrill as its premiere offering. The six member cast starred musical theatre stars Julie Garnye and Juliana Hansen, Broadway's Melody Hollis and Kristofer McNeely, and musical theatre star Jeffrey Christopher Todd, with Special Guest... Broadway, film, TV, concert and recording star Lainie Kazan. Christy Crowel served as the evening's Musical Director, with Shelly Markham serving as Musical Director for Lainie Kazan. Bruce Kimmel conceived, produced and directed Take Me Along, with Adryan Russ on board as Associate Producer.

Upon the conclusion of six weeks of intense competition which began January 8, nearly a thousand patrons supported 20 of Southern California's newest and most dynamic, young musical theatre performers in LA's Next Great Stage Star 2012 at Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's in Studio City, CA.

Following six weeks of fierce competition among 20 of California's finest young musical theatre performers, LA's Next Great Stage Star 2011 celebrated Judy Mora's outstanding victory at the 5th annual competition's glittering Finale on Sunday, February 6, presented by Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's, the most critically acclaimed, award-winning supper club of its kind in greater Los Angeles. Runners up included San Francisco's Michael David (2nd place); Matthew McFarland (3rd place); Emily Goglia (4th place); and Reba Buhr (5th place). Broadway World's Dean Butler was there to capture the three and a half hour event ... off and on stage - which also included a Special Guest Star performance by musical theatre, television star and pop composer/singer Blake McIver Ewing.
