Broadway's top musical artists are set to appear on tonight's (June 21st) telecast of 'Maya & Marty' on NBC to perform 'What the World Needs Now Is Love,' an updated version of the classic Burt Bacharach/Hal David song that is helping to support the devastated LGBT community of Orlando, Fla. Monday, December 12, 2011, the Broadway community descended on New York City's glamorous Museum of Modern Art to get their first official look at NBC's upcoming new musical drama series SMASH. BroadwayWorld was on the red carpet to catch up with all of the show's stars on their big night!
SMASH, NBC's new show which is about a group of people who come together to put on a Broadway musical, was developed by NBC's Robert Greenblatt, Steven Spielberg, and Broadway producing team Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. Broadway's Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman wrote the music for the show. Michael Mayer directed the project, and playwright Theresa Rebeck penned the script.
NBC's new Broadway-filled series SMASH will premiere on February 6 at 10pm. Can't wait until then? Well, neither can we, but lucky for us all - they've revealed a fantastic music video of 'Beautiful' featuring Katharine McPhee and scenes from the show! Is it February yet?
