Fifteen lines gush into cascades of sound as Anna Clyne's 'Within Her Arms' reaches a high point. An expression of grief at the loss of her mother, this piece, Clyne writes 'is music for my mother, with all my love.' This work opened the Philharmonic's 2021-22 season marking the Orchestra's return to live subscription performances after 18 months.

The New York Philharmonic has announced its 2021–22 season, marking the Orchestra’s long-awaited return to subscription performances following an 18-month period of cancellations due to the pandemic. For the first time in modern history the Philharmonic will be performing outside its home for an entire season. 

Last weekend at Marcus Garvey Park The National Black Theatre and the New York Philharmonic, together, were bringing culture back to Harlem and to New York City. Presented were performances by Juana Luna and Elisa Toro Franky, Mariachi Tapatio de Alvaro Paulino, Alma Adentro, and the World Premiere of Mark Grey's “Birds in the Moon.”

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for Ruth and Augustus Goetz's melodrama, The Heiress, suggested by the Henry James novel, Washington Square. After growing up subjected to her father's disinterest and strong resentment, a young woman in the 1850s discovers what love is in her journey towards independence, growth and strength, without an impactful female role model in her life. Directed by Deputy Artistic Director Seema Sueko, The Heiress runs February 8 - March 10, 2019 in the Fichandler Stage.

The Huntington Theatre Company presents the powerful drama Skeleton Crew, by Dominique Morriseau (Detroit '67 and Paradise Blue) and directed by Megan Sandberg-Zakian (Nat Turner in Jerusalem at New York Theatre Workshop and The Convert at Underground Railway Theater). Skeleton Crew runs from March 2 through March 31, 2018 at the South End / Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

Layon Gray's Kings Of Harlem will have three special performances September 14th, 22nd and 29th at St. Luke's Theatre In Midtown Manhattan. The play was recently selected to perform as a mainstage production at the National Black Theatre Festival in North Carolina and also performed for the Legends of the NBA for All-Star Weekend 2015.

The dynamic actor, singer and dancer Andre De Shields opened last night at Chicago's Victory Gardens Theater (2433 N. Lincoln Avenue) in his own new play, CONFESSIONS OF A P.I.M.P., directed by Samuel G. Roberson and Dennis Zacek.

Dennis Zacek and Grippo Stage Co., Inc., are presenting CONFESSIONS OF A P.I.M.P., written and performed by Broadway and Chicago star Andre De Shields, and directed by Samuel G. Roberson and Dennis Zacek. The cast also includes Kimberly Lawson and Donica Lynn.

Gracie and Rose are two women who fall in love in Wyoming in the late 1950's. Gracie has been passing as a man, George, for some time, in order to do men's work and live the way she feels most authentic. Anastasia Coon presents the full-length Los Angeles premiere of her solo show Gracie and Rose. Los Angeles Writer's Center Director Che'Rae Adams directs the limited run of the full work in development, now through June 28 at Art of Acting LA during the 2013 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Marcus Gardley is a poet-playwright whose most recent play every tongue confess premiered at Arena Stage starring Phylicia Rashad and directed by Kenny Leon. It was nominated for the Steinberg New Play Award and the Charles MacArthur Award for outstanding new play. His musical, ON THE LEVEE premiered last summer at Lincoln Center and was nominated for 11 Audelco Awards including outstanding playwright. Last Spring, his play AND JESUS MOONWALKS THE MISSISSIPPI was produced at the Cutting Ball Theater and received the SF Bay Area Theater Critics circle Award nomination for outstanding new play. He has had six plays produced including: DANCE OF THE HOLY GHOST at Yale Repertory Theatre (now under a Broadway option,) (L)IMITATIONS OF LIFE, at the Empty Space and LIKE SUN FALLIN' IN THE MOUTH at the National Black Theatre Festival. He is the recipient of the Hellen Merrill Award, a Kellsering Honoree, the Gerbode Emerging Playwright Award, the National Alliance for Musical Theatre Award, the Eugene O'Neill Memorial Scholarship, and the ASCAP Cole Porter Prize. He holds an MFA in Playwriting from the Yale Drama School and is a member of New Dramatists, The Dramatists Guild and the Lark Play Development Center.
