Executive Producer Jonathan Estabrooks, Tony & Grammy Award-winning producer Van Dean (Broadway Records), two-time Tony-nominated Broadway producer Michael J Moritz Jr. and producer and Broadway orchestrator Charlie Rosen today announced that this past Tuesday, a Who's Who of Broadway, Hollywood, Theatre, Dance, and Music came together at the legendary Avatar Studios in New York City and Los Angeles to record and film a single of the iconic Beatles' song 'With A Little Help From My Friends' to inspire support for the arts in America.

August Wilson's hard-hitting 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' opened September 11 and continues through October 16, 2016, at the Center Theatre Group/ Mark Taper Forum. Last night, BroadwayWorld was at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Orlando, Florida for the 'From Broadway with Love' concert to benefit the Central Florida LGBTQ Community and the victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting. We spoke with Chita Rivera, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Norbert Leo Butz, Darren Criss, Lilla Crawford, Anika Larsen, Carrie Manolakos, and (in a separate video below) Kelli O'Hara. 

Following the tragic event that took place at Pulse nightclub in Orlando on June 12, the Broadway and Orlando theatre communities will unite tonight, Monday, July 25 at 7:30 pm at the Disney Theatre in the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts to perform FROM BROADWAY WITH LOVE: A BENEFIT CONCERT FOR ORLANDO; a healing night of music and dance to honor the 49 victims.

Proceeds from the love anthem will benefit the LGBT Center of Central Florida.

For each share or challenge, Stagedoor will donate $10 to the GLBT Center of Central Florida, up to $5,000, because love is love is love.

The Catskills theatre camp has released their own version of the #BroadwayForOrlando love anthem to raise funds for the GLBT Center of Central Florida.

Today in 1987, the FIRST Broadway revival of Dreamgirls opened at the Ambassador Theatre, where it ran for 177 performances. Dreamgirls features music by Henry Krieger and lyrics and book by Tom Eyen. Based upon the show business aspirations and successes of R&B acts such as The Supremes, The Shirelles, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, and others, the musical follows the story of a young female singing trio from Chicago, Illinois called 'The Dreams', who become music superstars. The musical opened on December 20, 1981 at the Imperial Theatre, and was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical, and won six. It was later adapted into a motion picture from DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures in 2006. The 1987 cast featured Lillias White as 'Effie.'

Broadway's top musical artists are set to appear on tonight's (June 21st) telecast of 'Maya & Marty' on NBC to perform 'What the World Needs Now Is Love,' an updated version of the classic Burt Bacharach/Hal David song that is helping to support the devastated LGBT community of Orlando, Fla. A slew of stage vets rehearsed the song earlier today, and Seth Rudetsky captured a sneak preview.
