Broadway Sessions celebrated its 6th Annual Black History Month Show on February 17, co-hosted by Ben Cameron & Imari Hardon, in celebration of Black excellence, impact, influence and legacy on Broadway and beyond.

This past Thursday Broadway Sessions celebrated the 5th birthday of our beloved and uber-talented musical director, Joshua Stephen Kartes. Joshua had but one birthday wish- he wanted to blow out his candles like 'Bobby' in Sondheim's masterpiece, Company. So that's exactly what we gave him!

Broadway Sessions had a very sweet season premiere this last week as we welcomed cast members from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We danced Oompa Loompa-style, enjoyed heartfelt performances, and watched a couple 11 year old boys SING THEIR FACES OFF. Jackie Hoffman was unable to attend, but never fear- the cast celebrated her through dramatic readings of some of her finer TWEETS! Enjoy these performances by legendary John Rubinstein, Emma Plaeffle, Cory Lingner, Elliot Mattox, Ryan Sell, Jake Flynn and our sensational diva "Rising Stars" Nikisha Williams (bound for The Color Purple tour) and Brittany Dorazio.

The Tony Awards aired last night on CBS (yeah yeah yeah, we know you know). The show was lovely and came at just the right moment, given all the horrific things happening in our world. We, at Broadway Sessions, got to celebrating last Thursday night as we welcomed Tony Award winner Daisy Eagan. We also celebrated the show that were "snubbed" with fabulous performances from Disaster's Olivia Phillip and Bway vet and Tuck Everlasting cast member Heather Parcells. Lion King and Ragtime vet DeMone Seraphin was also on hand to the delight of the fun loving crowd. "Rising Stars" Erin Christine Walsh, Julia Rose Hines and Daniel Joseph Baker knocked it out of the park. Enjoy the insanity here.

Based on the 2003 film starring Will Ferrell, Elf has a book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin, music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin. Elf will be directed by Eric Ankrim and choreographed by Josh Rhodes. Elf will run eight times a week at Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey, from November 26, 2014, through January 4, 2015. Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT) closes it's season with the Tony Award-winning musical, THE WIZ, playing August 10 - August 27 at the Pickard Theater in Brunswick. THE WIZ brings a mix of soul, rock and gospel music to Brunswick and a twist on L. Frank Baum's iconic story 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.' MSMT alumni Donna Drake directs this production, with choreography by Mark Stuart, and starring multiple Broadway veterans: Gwen Stewart, LaQuet Sharnell, Eric B. Anthony, E. Clayton Cornelious, Nikkeili DeMone, Bobby Daye and Gayle Turner.
