At the recent launch of American Girl's new historical character Claudie Wells, Harlem School of the Arts welcomed special guest. The 58-year-old organization founded by the internationally acclaimed concert soprano Dorothy Maynor, was the recipient of a significant combination of funds and products from American Girl.
Yolanda Wyns, Director of the Music Department at the Harlem School of the Arts was one of three honorees feted at this year's American Composers Orchestra's 2020 Gala, held on Wednesday evening, March 4 at the Bryant Park Grill on West 40th street in New York City.
On Monday, August 26 at 7:00pm, the Harlem School of the Arts (HSA), in partnership with The National Jazz Museum in Harlem (NJMH), and the Catskill Jazz Factory (CJF) will present a special concert performance of The Spirit of Harlem, a celebratory homage to the most iconic moments of Harlem's musical past, and the jazz renaissance currently taking place in New York City. Free to the public, the concert will be held at the HSA Theater, located at 649 St. Nicholas Avenue.

JAZZLAND: in Concert, a new musical inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, and set in Harlem, circa the 1930s at the height of the Harlem Renaissance, will begin rehearsals in March, and is scheduled for a limited run at the HSA Theatre, 649 Saint Nicholas Avenue, in New York City. Performances are scheduled for two consecutive weekends, beginning on Friday, May 11 through Sunday, May 20.
