The Detroit Repertory Theatre, in partnership with neighbors Dream of Detroit, the HUDA Clinic, Muslim Center, and HUG Community Garden, is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Arts & Culture Festival and Street Fair at its home in the geographical center of Detroit on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 10 am to 8 pm. This free, all day, outdoor event is made possible by a grant from ART Ops, and Community HeART of Highland Park and is a celebration of the arts, neighborhood revitalization, healthy living, community, and the power of diversity acting in unity in Detroit.

“I don't care what the critics say or anybody else,” Spike Lee tells Zach Baron in the August issue of GQ with photos by Maciek Jasik. “But we are on the right side of history with this film.” He says that some of his projects were before their time. “A lot of my films people didn't get when they came out,” he claims. “They didn't get 25th Hour. Now people love that film.”

The Detroit Repertory Theatre, Michigan's longest running, nonprofit, professional (union) theatre, is excited to announce its 62nd Season. The four plays on the 2018/19 season include two world premieres and two midwest premieres. All four will open hearts and challenge the minds of the diverse audience that represents Southeast Michigan. The four plays are Evidence of Things Unseen by Katie Forgette, The House on Poe Street by Fengar Gael, Aubrey by Joe Musso, and Williston by Adam Seidel.

The World Premiere of Steven Simoncic's hilarious and poignant story about Detroit, Ghost Gardens, will have an Opening Night Champagne Celebration on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Detroit Repertory Theatre at 8:30 pm. Patrons will gather in the elegant lobby gallery of the Theatre after the show with the playwright, cast and crew. Tickets are $17 in advance and may be purchased by calling the Theatre at (313) 868-1347. Miami Dade College's (MDC) Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) will present Poetry Along the Bay, an evening on a cruise ship under the stars with celebrated Cuban American poet Richard Blanco. A multifaceted writer who grew up in Miami and the author of a number of books, Blanco memorably read one of his poems at Barack Obama's second presidential inauguration in 2013. Poetry Along the Bay will take place on board the boat the Miami Lady on Friday, April 27.  Boarding will begin promptly at 7 p.m.

Theatre for a New Audience (TFANA; Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director) announces four TFANA Talks in connection with its new, critically lauded production of William Shakespeare's tragicomedy The Winter's Tale, directed by OBIE Award-winner Arin Arbus. These free post-performance discussions take placeat Polonsky Shakespeare Center (262 Ashland Place), TFANA's home in the Brooklyn Cultural District, where The Winter's Tale runs through April 15

Building on PUC's long history of offering the absolute pinnacle of talent, the concerts and initiatives will blur the lines of genre, build new relationships between audiences and performers, and expand the boundaries of the concert experience.

Top Student Musicians From Dwight Schools Around the World Gather at Carnegie Hall to Celebrate a Pioneer in Global Education

Hear Our Voice: A Woman's Journey, a timely new oratorio written by Van Nuys High School students for the Los Angeles Master Chorale's Voices Within Oratorio Project, will be premiered by students and members of the Master Chorale on Friday, February 16 andSaturday, February 17 at the school's auditorium. The Friday performance will be for fellow students. The Saturday performance at 1 PM is presented as a free community concert and is open to the public.

2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award Recipient Dallas Theater Center (DTC) presented the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) with $127,008.53 following the run of DTC's production of A Christmas Carol. For the tenth consecutive year, DTC collected donations and non-perishable goods during performances of A Christmas Carol from Nov. 22 to Dec. 28, 2017 to benefit NTFB.

The Joy To The World Holiday Tour featuring Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. gets underway this week with shows Thursday, December 7th in Morehead KY, Friday, December 8th in Bethesda MD and Saturday, December 9th in Petersburg WV.

Sacramento Theatre Company is a regional treasure, unique in the fact that they support and develop local talent. Each season they produce an original work by an area artist. Their 2017-18 season theme of Fate, Fantasy and Forgiveness currently features a play by Sacramento native Ryan Patrick Nill entitled Kings of America.

Michigan's longest running, nonprofit, professional theatre, the Detroit Repertory Theatre will hold its Annual Black Tie Awards Night and Homecoming Celebration and Performance on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 6:30 pm. The Black Tie is the Annual Major Fundraiser for the Theatre. Funds raised help keep the Detroit Repertory Theatre producing its diversity centered productions and support its many outreach programs that provide cultural enrichment opportunities for the uninitiated and the physically, mentally, economically and socially challenged, proving the power of diversity acting in unity.

The World Premiere of Rich Rubin's topical comedy about salmon and human relationships, Swimming Upstream, will have a Champagne Celebration on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Detroit Repertory Theatre at 8:30 PM.
