David Mirvish has announced the 17 shows in the 2016 - 2017 Mirvish Theatre Season.  There will be seven shows in the Mainstage Subscription Series, three in the Off-Mirvish Subscription Series, and seven bonus shows not on subscription.

Though only 38 years old, British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has already amassed an impressive list of credits on stage, on television, and on the big screen. Though he has yet to grace a Broadway stage, I have a feeling that that is just an eventuality as his popularity continues to skyrocket on this side of the Atlantic. Today we are taking a look at his career from the British stage in 'Hedda Gabler,' 'After the Dance,' and 'Frankenstein' to his work on film in '12 Years a Slave,' 'August: Osage County,' and 'Star Trek: Into Darkness,' to his iconic work on TV as the 'high-functioning sociopath' titular character on the BBC's 'Sherlock,' for which he is nominated a second time, in addition to his 2013 nomination for HBO's 'Parade's End.'

Edward Fox is to star in a new play, Sand in the Sandwiches by Hugh Whitemore, which celebrates the life and work of John Betjeman. Directed by Gareth Armstrong, the production will premiere at Oxford Playhouse on 25 October 2016 followed by a UK tour visiting the Minerva Theatre Chichester, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford, Exeter Northcott Theatre, Salisbury Playhouse and culminating with a final performance at the Folkestone Book Festival on 24 November 2016. With only two weeks to go until the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 kicks off, here's a little reminder of the fantastic acts that are heading up to Edinburgh this August: 

Amphibian Stage Productions (Kathleen Culebro, Artistic Director) will screen a film of the National Theatre of London's production of The Audience by Peter Morgan, starring Helen Mirren, on Wednesday, July 27 at 2pm and 7pm in partnership with the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

Following the critically acclaimed release of LOST WEST END in 2015, an album highlighted in The Sunday Times as an "Essential New Release"; Stage Door Records are pleased to continue the album series with the release of LOST WEST END 2 on July 29.

Nathan's Famous, the original American hot dog that began on Coney Island in Brooklyn, and now sells hot dogs and other products throughout the nation and around the world, is celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2016. As part of a series of special events and promotions in Coney Island and across the country, Nathan's will offer hot dogs for just 5 cents, the original 1916 Coney Island price, at the original Nathan's Famous store at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues on Saturday, May 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (limit two hot dogs per person).

Jon Brittain and Matt Tedford's MARGARET THATCHER QUEEN OF SOHO, which gives the Iron Lady a Soho awakening on the eve of the Section 28 vote, has had a remarkable evolution over the past few years. From 10-minute short at Theatre503 to fully-fledged cabaret-cum-theatre show, it's enjoyed runs at the Edinburgh Festival, Brighton Comedy Festival and Leicester Square Theatre, and now has three dates at the Udderbelly Festival on the South Bank as part of a national tour. Easter Monday - a group of Irish nationalists stage a rebellion against the ruling British government in Ireland in an attempt to establish an Irish Republic. Some 1,600 rebels seize prominent buildings in Dublin and clash with British troops on the streets of the capital. Within a week, the insurrection is suppressed and more than 2,000 people are dead or injured. The leaders of the rebellion are executed. A few years later an Irish Free State is established. Yet, over the following century the events of that week and their immediate aftermath have cast a long shadow over Ireland and continue to shape Anglo-Irish relations today.

A special musical to commemorate the 75th anniversary of The Blitz will be premiered in Liverpool this Autumn.
