Suid-Afrikaners het reeds baie lekker gelag vir Ray Cooney se splinternuwe klug, My Vrou se Man se Lyk se Tas, meesterlik in Afrikaans vertaal deur Peet van Rensburg uit die oorspronklike Funny Money en onder die regie van Frans Swart. Hierdie produksie het reeds voor uitverkoopte gehore regoor Suid-Afrika gespeel en kom nou Johannesburg toe vir 'n twee weke speelvak by die Universiteit van Johannesburg se teater vanaf 12 tot 24 November. Hierdie is natuurlik een van Cooney se baie suksesvolle klugte op Londen se West End en word vir die heel eerste keer in Suid-Afrika aangebied.

The Windham Theatre Guild presents a haunting, award winning, record breaking musical that's rarely performed. Opening tonight, November 1st at the Burton Leavitt Theatre, it's Blood Brothers, with book, music and lyrics by Willy Russell. First opening in 1988, Blood Brothers ran for 24 years, earning the honor as the 3rd longest running work of musical theatre in the West End District of London.

The reality of what has been achieved in this adaptation belies the potential that this version of BLOOD BROTHERS held in its conception. While there are some moments that work beautifully, there are many where the shaky ideological foundation upon which this production is built calls the entire exercise into question.

APAC Announces BLOOD BROTHERS Extension

THE ASTORIA PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (APAC) is pleased to announce the one-week extension of Willy Russell's (Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine) BLOOD BROTHERS, musical staging by Christine O'Grady, musical direction by Julianne B. Merrill, and directed by Tom Wojtunik. After playing to sold-out audiences and receiving critical acclaim, such as John Simon remarking, 'A tasteful revival of a worthwhile show, which you will want to catch whether or not you have seen the musical before,' BLOOD BROTHERS will extend a week at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church (30-44 Crescent St, Astoria, NY 11102. Entrance on 30th Road). Performances began Thursday, May 2 and will now continue through Saturday, May 25. Opening Night was Saturday, May4 (8 p.m.).
