Extra, extra! Newsies is coming to Netflix! Following a successful and record-breaking cinematic debut, 'Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical!' will be released on Netflix on September 5, 2017.
Nationally-recognized Coterie Theatre's 2017/2018 season of plays selected by Producing Artistic Director Jeff Church aims to deliver engagement for family members of any age. One of the national leaders in producing theatre for youth and family audiences, The Coterie also enriches curriculum for schools looking for excellence in arts education. This coming season, The Coterie will have several productions where young theatre-goers will interact and participate during the performances.
According to Peter Filichia at Music Theatre International, NEWSIES may be coming to an elementary, middle, or high school near you. Filichia reports that iTheatrics, the company responsible for abridging Broadway musicals for younger performers, is currently working on an adaptation of NEWSIES.

Due to the inclement weather, Disney's NEWSIES screening, scheduled for tonight as part of Broadway in the Boros, has been postponed until next Monday, July 31.
More than 60 Chicagoland teenagers will perform in two final showcases at Goodman Theatre to conclude the theater's summer programming-Playbuild Youth Intensive and Musical Theater Intensive-on August 11 and 12 at 7pm. Both programs were offered free of charge and taught over a course of seven-to-eight weeks in the Alice Rapoport Center for Education and Engagement ("the Alice"). This year's theme, "What it Means to be an American," uses Langston Hughes' poem "I too, Sing America" as inspiration. In partnership with the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment's Broadway in the Boros series, 'Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical!' will premiere the first outdoor screening of the film on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Williamsbridge Park Oval in the Bronx (3225 Reservoir Oval E).
The Coterie Theatre and the White Theatre at "The J," the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City, will come together to co-produce Disney's Newsies for a limited run in the Summer 2018. The show will mark The Coterie and The J's first collaboration, as well as the Kansas City region's first locally-produced production of Newsies. It will be co-directed by Coterie Producing Artistic Director, Jeff Church, and Jerry Jay Cranford, who will also serve as choreographer, with musical direction by Pam Williamson, veteran of 10 musicals at The J. Newsies will feature a cast of all-local professional and non-professional adult and youth actors, and will be performed live on stage at the White Theatre at The J, July 7-29, 2018.
