Aurora Theatre's 2013-2014 Harvel Lab Series continues with William Mastrosimone's Tamer of Horses running February 14 - March 2, 2014. Teen violence, education and the realization of one's own potential all take center stage in this poignant drama. Hector St. Vincent, a juvenile rapper on the run, takes up residence in an old barn owned by Ty & Georgiane Fletcher. A former teacher, Ty attempts to inspire and educate the teenager through an examination of Homer's The Iliad. But will he be rewarded for taking a chance on this troubled youth? The play features Aurora Theatre Producing Artistic Director Anthony P. Rodriguez and Maria Sager (The Book Club Play - Horizon Thaetre, Barrio Hollywood - Aurora Theatre) as the Fletchers and 2014 Aurora Apprentice Company member Dane Troy as Hector. The show will be performed in Aurora's intimate 86-seat Peach State Federal Credit Union Studio. The production reunites the creative duo from last season's hit 'Master Harold'...and the Boys with Jaclyn Hofmann directing and scenic design by Suzi Award-Winner Lee Maples.
With the goal of creating discussion and inspiring action, next month in New York City from December 12-15 at The Workshop Theater (312 West 36th Street, 4th FL), the Stop Gun Violence NOW Theater Festival will honor of the one-year anniversary of the Newtown massacre and its 26 victims with four days of powerful theater centered around the themes of gun violence and gun control. All of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the following local gun control organizations that are proudly sponsoring the festival: Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, Newtown Action Alliance, Organizing for Action and Harlem Mothers SAVE.

McCarter Theatre Center has announced the appointment of Adam Immerwahr as Associate Artistic Director. Immerwahr, a longtime McCarter staff member with a thriving directorial career, will support McCarter's Artistic Director, Emily Mann, in the planning and execution of the theater's artistic programming. His duties will also include directing for McCarter Theater's main stage, cultivating new works and identifying emerging artists, having primary responsibility for the day-to-day artistic oversight of McCarter's dramatic productions, and coordinating the selection and hiring of freelance artistic personnel.
