MCC Theater has announced the extension of the American premiere of Penelope Skinner's celebrated play The Village Bike, starring indie film actress Greta Gerwig, and featuring direction by Sam Gold. The production is now scheduled at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) through Sunday, July 13, 2014. It was previously scheduled through June 28th. Tickets for the added performances are on sale now.

MCC Theater's annual Miscast gala, one of the most exciting and unique theater events in town, was held last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom. At the event, Broadway's hottest stars performed songs from roles in which they would never be cast. This year's event was hosted by award-winning actress Allison Janney. Playwright Paul Downs Colaizzo brings his newly published play, Really Really, to New York City's famed The Drama Book Shop (250 West 40th Street) on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 6:00PM for a discussion of the work as well as a book signing. Co-stars of the 2013 New York premiere production of Really Really, Zosia Mamet and Evan Jonigkeit, will also read an excerpt from the play. Joining Colaizzo in a discussion of the play will be Mamet and Jonigkeit as well as Will Cantler, one of the Artistic Directors of MCC Theater, which produced Really Really last winter at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC), where it was twice-extended. This event is open to the public. Really Really is now published by The Overlook Press and available in stores and online.

Small Engine Repair at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) had its official opening night on November 20, 2013 and was previously extended through December 15, 2013. The show must close December 21st to make way for the next Lortel tenant.

Ms. Light began her relationship with MCC in 1999 with a universally-acclaimed performance in Margaret Edson's Wit, and most recently in March 2013 was the honoree at MCC's annual Miscast gala celebrating her illustrious screen and stage career; her appearances in MCC productions, which in addition to Wit includes 2005's Colder Than Here; and her impassioned advocacy of several causes, most especially Arts in Education.

MCC Theater recently announced that Neil LaBute's new play, Reasons to be Happy, also directed by LaBute, will now extend through Saturday, June 29th. Reasons to Be Happy is a companion piece to LaBute's critically-acclaimed award-winning play,Reasons to Be Pretty, first produced at MCC Theater in 2008 before moving to Broadway where it was nominated for three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Play.
