On Saturday, June 15, University Area CDC (Community Development Corporation) will present Uptown Music Festival - an Evening of Sax Therapy featuring nationally known jazz artists, from 4 to 10 p.m. Benefiting the center and created to highlight the diverse musical culture, the inaugural festival will also feature an art gallery, a family-friendly Kids Zone, and local vendors, along with the headlining jazz artists.

Theater Project Announces Young Filmmakers' Competition Finalists

His audience was teenaged filmmakers, all finalists in The Theater Project's first annual Young Filmmakers' Competition. Also present were the films' casts and crews, friends and families, all gathered at Cafe Mondo in Summit on June 22 for the screening and to find out who would win the Judges' Pick award.The event was also supported by the Summit Film Society.

The State Theatre Center for the Arts announces the 2014 FREDDY Awards, the 12th year of the program, recognizing and rewarding exceptional accomplishments in the production and performance of musical theater in high schools in Lehigh and Northampton Counties, Pennsylvania, and Warren County, New Jersey. The 2014 program will feature 31 schools, the most in the programs history, and will include a first time appearance by Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School who will present In the Heights in April.

MUSE/IQUE, known for its counter-conventional performances that feel more like parties than formal concerts, wraps 'Summer of Sound' 2013 with 'Lose Your Senses with Ellis Hall' featuring Hall, Tower of Power's lead singer and keyboardist who electrifies with his five octave range and tears it up with the Selah Gospel Choir to unchain the soul sounds of great musicians like Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and even Bach, Beethoven and Vivaldi on Saturday, August 17, 2013, 7:30 pm, outdoors at Caltech's Beckman Mall in Pasadena. They join Caltech physicist Sean Carroll and MUSE/IQUE Artistic Director Rachael Worby, who conducts the MUSE/IQUE Orchestra for a pure out-of the-box adventure that also celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Maurice Sendak's 'Where the Wild Things Are' with a world premiere of a dance set to the score of Spike Jonze' critically acclaimed film adaptation of the beloved children's book. American Dance Theatre Productions will present ANGEL ON MY SHOULDER from Tuesday, July 30 through Sunday, August 4, at the June Havoc Theatre at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex, as part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival. A jazzy, contemporary update of the classic film about a murdered gangster brought back to life by the devil, who is anxious to besmirch the reputation of an incorruptible New York judge, ANGEL ON MY SHOULDER has Music by WARREN HILL, Lyrics by O'MARA LEARY & JAMES BEAUMONT & Book by JAMES BEAUMONT. This AEA Approved Showcase Production will be directed by JOE MARUZZO.
