Conductor And Organist Kent Tritle's Full 2021-22 Season Of Events Announced

Kent Tritle's 2021-22 season schedule features a full slate of events: he leads five concerts at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine with the Cathedral Choir, four with Oratorio Society of New York, four with Musica Sacra, and three with groups at the Manhattan School of Music.

Portland Opera Launches The Ensemble Leaders Fellowship Program

Portland Opera is delighted to launch the Ensemble Leaders Fellowship Program—a new course of professional development opportunities for emerging opera administrators with a focus on artistic operations, production, and community engagement. The goal of the Ensemble Leaders Fellowship is to focus on delivering meaningful career advancement experiences for emerging professionals who are Black, Indigenous, or people of color.  

MassOpera & OperaHub Announce Selected Work For New Opera Workshop

In June of 2020, MassOpera and OperaHub announced a call for proposal submissions to the New Opera Workshop (NOW) seeking creative and innovative operatic works to add to the American operatic cannon.  Projects were required to feature a majority of female roles with a focus on roles for diverse women, by librettists and composers currently living in the United States. 

Portland Opera Announces 20/21 Resident Artists

Portland Opera has announced the five artists joining the company's Resident Artist program for the 2020/21 season: soprano Lynnesha Crump, mezzo-soprano Jasmine Johnson, tenor David Morgans Sanchez, baritone Michael Parham, and bass Edwin Jhamal Davis.

Women Composers Commissions Announced

Composers Niloufar Iravani, Leanna Primiani, and Hilary Purrington will each receive orchestral commissions of $15,000 as part of the Women Composers Readings and Commissions program, an initiative of the League of American Orchestras, in partnership with American Composers Orchestra (ACO) and supported by the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation.

JoAnn Falletta And The Buffalo Philharmonic To Present Weekly Broadcasts Of Archived Live Concert Recordings

Over the next several weeks, JoAnn Falletta and the Buffalo Philharmonic musicians is partnering with WNED Classical, Buffalo Toronto Public Media's Classical music station, to broadcast free archived live recordings of BPO concerts. The BPO musicians have made a gift of their archived orchestral concerts to share with our audiences while their concert hall is closed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Colorado Music Festival Announces 2020 Summer Season

The Colorado Music Festival (CMF) in Boulder, Colorado, isn't broadly known outside the state, but it should be. This summer, under the leadership of the recently arrived Music Director Peter Oundjian, the Festival will actually present more 21st-century pieces (16, including two world premieres) than works by Beethoven (13). That reflects Oundjian's commitment to presenting the work of living composers as well as music by masters of the canon. This is the first year of the Festival's five-year commitment to commissioning new works and presenting them in Boulder.

Beth Levin Comes to NY Public Library For The Performing Arts At Lincoln Center

Cherny Concert & Artist Management Ltd. proudly presents a solo recital with Brooklyn-based virtuoso pianist Beth Levin on Saturday, January 26th at 2:30pm at the Bruno Walter Auditorium of New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Levin is celebrated as a bold interpreter of challenging works, from the Romantic canon to leading modernist composers. The New York Times praised her fire and originality, while The New Yorker called her playing revelatory. This free concert will feature Handel's Suite for keyboard No. 4 in D minor, HWV 437, Wang Jie's Memories of That First Summer, Drozdoff's Dithyramb and Ode to the Past, and Beethoven's Sonata Op. 109.
