Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents their popular Writer-Producer Speed Date on Sunday, March 4, 2018. In deference to Oscar night, the event will start one hour earlier than usual: from 4:30pm - 8:00pm at NOLA Rehearsal Studio, 244 W 54th St., 11th floor.

Heading into their 4th Season, The Dare Tactic dares to stage innovative, original works by underrepresented voices. After 200+ submissions, The Dare Tactic is thrilled to announce their season! Co-Op Theatre East, The Dare Tactic and Eagle Project announce the Dixon Place workshop of Building A Real Boy, a multimedia theatrical telling of the life and work of computer activist Aaron Swartz.

The highly-anticipated Planet Connections Awards will take place this Monday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. at The Acorn Theater, Theatre Row (410 W 42nd St, New York City).

The annual Playwrights for a Cause benefit, hosted by Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, addresses powerful social and topical issues in our society through the works of prominent playwrights. This year, the event will feature stories of standing up to injustice written by celebrated authors, Catherine Filloux, Lyle Kessler, Jose Rivera, and Regina Taylor. This year, the event will be Sunday, July 23, and will benefit the New York Civil Liberties Union with 'The Protest Plays,' stories of standing up to injustice written by celebrated authors, CATHERINE FILLOUX, Lyle Kessler, JOSE RIVERA, and Regina Taylor.

'This is an excellent season of plays,' Glory Kadigan, founder and curator of Planet Connections Theatre Festivity's Playwrights For A Cause, said, remarking about this year's plays and playwrights, and now, the creative team. 'I'm so proud of the activist artists involved with Planet Connections for continuing to connect with audiences in so many creative ways while drawing attention to organizations who are on the front lines of this important work.'

Planet Connections Theatre Festivity closed out its season on August 14 with its annual award ceremony, held at the Cherry Lane Theatre in Greenwich Village.

Core Creative Productions (CCP) -- the company that produced Chokehold, the Outstanding Overall Production of a New Play at the 2015 Planet Connections Festivity - returns to the festival this year with Drones, a new play written and directed by Anthony P. Pennino. This production is the world premiere of the play. Adapted from an incident in The Iliad, the play imagines an alternative reality where the war between Greece and Troy never ended; the modern technology of warfare (satellites, air strikes, unmanned drones, engineered pathogens) blends into the mythic landscape of Homer's poem.
