Joey Contreras, Kate Thomas and More Lead The Dare Tactic's Spring 2018 Season

Heading into their 4th Season, The Dare Tactic dares to stage innovative, original works by underrepresented voices. After 200+ submissions, The Dare Tactic is thrilled to announce their season! Forget Me Not

Forget Me Not tells the story of a remote coastal town where a whale washes ashore and brings a burst of attention back to the struggling community. Unsolved murders, tender relationships, and a media frenzy lead to an explosive reveal that makes us wonder what we would do to keep from being forgotten. Forget Me Not is a new musical in progress. "The creative team completed a successful Act One 29-Hour Equity reading of the show in December 2017, and is now taking the Spring of 2018 to finish the first full draft of the piece. The current workshop you will be witnessing courtesy of The Dare Tactic's support is an exploration of potential orchestrations for the piece, as well as an opportunity to further define the relationship between a few central characters." - Kate Thomas.

Good Fit

Good Fit follows a Muslim woman's journey through London the day after a terrorist attack. Akunna believes, "In this particular moment, it is hard not to think about the ways our different identifiers, our religions, races, genders, function to determine how (in)visible we are in public space. Writing GOOD FIT was a way for me to translate the cumulative nature of public prejudice, from a perspective that is often underrepresented. I hope this workshop will help us successfully bring the script to life, and bring clarity to how the piece as a whole may continue to develop."

Wonder Boi

Wonder Boi explores the complicated relationship between mind, body, and identity through the story of Jackson - a college student navigating his roles as both a transgender man and as a superhero. "I'm extremely thrilled to be workshopping Wonder Boi with The Dare Tactic this spring. Through this workshop, we'll be taking the first steps in a long journey to collaboratively bring to life a truthful, compelling, and adventurous story of a young trans man coming to terms with his new identity as a superhero."- J. A Roller Rink Temptation is a fun and trashy coming of age romp about six girls at a lesbian roller rink struggling for love in a new, daunting and... potentially sexiii, world. Founded in 2014, The Dare Tactic is a New York based theatre company dedicated to producing new, innovative, original works by underrepresented voices. Under fiscal sponsorship by Fractured Atlas, The Dare Tactic has produced 10 Mainstage productions at venues including: The ShapeShifter Lab, St. Paul's Theatre, The White Horse Tavern, Melville Gallery, and more. The Dare Tactic has been nominated at Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, appeared at Poetic License Festival, and collaborated with administration at Pace University.
