Claybody Theatre has announced that this October it will be presenting the world premiere of Song of the Sytch, Deborah McAndrew's new play about secrets and subversion in the dark heart of the Potteries during the Second World War.

As their production of the critically acclaimed Marvellous opens @sohoplace in the West End, the New Vic's festive show Alice in Wonderland begins to take shape at the Staffordshire-based theatre as the company prepares for the finale celebrations of their 60th anniversary year.

The Octagon Theatre Bolton is presenting the world premiere of The Book Thief through Saturday 15th October 2022. This spellbinding production is based on Markus Zusak’s worldwide best-selling novel and follows courageous young orphan Liesel as she enters a dangerous game of book thievery in 1930s Nazi-Germany. Ahead of its world premiere at the Octagon Theatre Bolton this autumn, the musical adaptation of The Book Thief has released all new rehearsal photos.

The cast is led by Ryan O’Donnell (The Serpent, BBC One; Quadrophenia, Plymouth Theatre Royal) as the Narrator, Jack Lord (A Christmas Carol, Leeds Playhouse; West Side Story, Royal Exchange) as Hans Hubermann, Danielle Henry (Doctors, BBC One; After Life, National Theatre) as Rosa Hubermann, and Daniel Krikler (Present Laughter, The Old Vic; Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Universal Pictures) as Max Vandenburg.

Rehearsing via zoom and then on the Storyhouse thrust stage and then outdoors in the park, productions of Merry Wives of Windsor, Pride and Prejudice and The Jungle Book open on Saturday 29 May and run until Sunday 30 August. 

Following a bumper year of five shows which saw East Midlands theatre company New Perspectives premiere their Stage Award winning show The Fishermen, a new production based on John Berger's masterpiece A Fortunate Man, and a first-time collaboration with Midland's rural touring company Pentabus on Crossings, New Perspectives have announced two rural touring productions for 2019. The Man Without A Past, a new adaptation of Finnish film, and a new production of debbie tucker green's trade join their 2019 programme, which has already seen the first of this year's international appearances with A Fortunate Man presented at the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival in January, one of only two British companies to take part in the festival.

The powerful and subversive drama Crossings will be broadcast online and available to audiences from 14-16 December to mark the first collaborative tour produced by leading touring theatre companies Pentabus Theatre and New Perspectives.
