In celebration of the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University's 125th Anniversary, Mayor Rahm Emanuel proclaims Tuesday, December 9, 2014 'Auditorium Theatre Day' in the City of Chicago. Exactly 125 years to the day of its momentous opening in 1889, the Auditorium Theatre invites the Chicago community to partake in birthday festivities in an all-day Birthday extravaganza.

Katten and Executive Director Brett Batterson, celebrates its milestone 125th Anniversary with a special performance, "Living the History -- 125 Years of the Auditorium Theatre" on December 9, 2014.
Exactly 125 years from when the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University opened its doors in 1889, the National Historic Landmark, led by Board Chairman Melvin L. Katten and Executive Director Brett Batterson, celebrates its milestone 125th Anniversary with a special performance, "Living the History - 125 Years of the Auditorium Theatre" on December 9, 2014. The celebratory evening, which begins with a star-studded program at the Auditorium Theatre (50 E Congress Pkwy), will include a tribute to the diverse entertainment that has been, and continues to be presented at the theatre including symphonic music, opera, Broadway musicals, rock music and dance. The performance will be immediately followed by a Gala Celebration Dinner at the Palmer House Hilton (17 E Monroe) to cap off the extraordinary night.
Vernard Gilmore will perform with the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJ PAC) on Saturday, May 10th and Sunday, May 11th. Broadwayworld.com had the opportunity to interview Gilmore about his career and the upcoming spring season at NJ PAC.

On June 12, 2013, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, one of the world's most popular dance companies, kicked off its seven performance engagement at the David H. Koch Theater. The performance marked the Company's historic return to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for the first time in over a decade and its first engagement there led by Artistic Director Robert Battle.
