Ragged Wing Ensemble Presents A DIFFERENT LONG STRETCH OF EARTH

Ragged Wing Ensemble, known throughout the Bay Area for its original, ensemble-driven productions, presents A Different Long Stretch of Earth, an original play written by Addie Ulrey for Ragged Wing's core company (and directed by Amy Sass). Inspired by her work at the intersection of arts nonprofits and social justice as well as her fickle and persistent love of the Old West, Ulrey takes us into the contemporary American West where a group of characters wrestle with the mindsets and mythologies of our collective past and explore how they shape our ability to envision the future.

Complete Casting Has Been Announced for MCC's TRANSFERS

MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, William Cantler, Artistic Directors; Blake West, Executive Director) today announced the complete cast for the fourth show of its 2017-18 season: the World Premiere production of Transfers, written by MCC Theater's Youth Company Playwriting Lab Director and Obie Award winner Lucy Thurber, and directed by Jackson Gay.

The epic story returns. Tony Kushner's two-part play, ANGELS IN AMERICA makes its way back to Broadway tonight! New York Stage And Film Expands Filmmakers' Workshop With Winter Sessions

New York Stage and Film announced today that they have expanded their Filmmakers' Workshop winter session, bringing the 2017-18 residency filmmakers to New York City to get feedback on the rewrite of their script, participate in Master Classes addressing the next phase of their process, and meet other professionals from the industry at a celebratory cocktail party this year hosted by Moet Hennessy. 

New York Premiere Of BABETTE'S FEAST Will Begin An Open-Ended Off-Broadway Engagement

Based on the short story by Isak Dinesen (and made famous by the 1987 Academy Award-winning film), Babette's Feast will begin performances Wednesday March 14th at the Theatre at Saint Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between Ninth & Tenth Avenues) for an open-ended Off-Broadway engagement.  Opening Night is set for Sunday March 25th (5pm).  The performance runs 90 minutes with no intermission.

SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY Announced as Part of NNPN's Rolling Premieres

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, celebrates the continuation of the Rolling World Premiere (RWP), Surely Goodness and Mercy by Chisa Hutchinson, at Redtwist Theatre. The play, commissioned by Writers Theatre of New Jersey, will receive a total of three distinct NNPN RWP productions, rolling through Member Theaters Salt Lake Acting Company (September 6-October 15, UT), Writers Theatre of New Jersey (September 28-October 15, Madison, NJ), and Redtwist Theatre (February 17-March 18, Chicago, IL). Surely Goodness and Mercy is NNPN's 73rd Rolling World Premiere.

BSM Celebrates Women Composers With THE MUSIC OF REBECCA CLARKE

Bloomingdale School of Music (BSM) is pleased to continue its mini-series celebrating the music of women composers with a concert entitled, The Music of Rebecca Clarke on Friday, March 9th at 7:00 pm.  This free concert will be held at the David Greer Recital Hall at the school's home site at 323 West 108th Street in Manhattan. Seating is limited. Led by BSM piano faculty member Tim McCullough and joined by mezzo soprano Lara Nie and violist Ann Roggen, the program shines a spotlight on the music of the English/American composer Rebecca Clarke and features vocal settings of poems by William Shakespeare and William Blake as well as the epic Viola Sonata.  

Audible Will Award $5 Million in Commissions to Emerging Playwrights

Audible Inc., the world's largest producer and provider of downloadable audiobooks and other spoken-word entertainment, today announced the first class of theater commissions selected to receive support from its fund dedicated to the commission and development of innovative English-language works from playwrights around the globe. Announced earlier this year, the $5 million fund will enable the creation of one- and two-person audio plays driven by language and voice, in keeping with Audible's core commitment to elevating listening experiences through powerful performances of brilliantly composed words.

Chinatown Soup Art Benefit Raises Funds For Human Trafficking Awareness Play

Renowned artists have joined forces with Mirage Theatre Company to raise funds in support of the development of a new theatre production, Broken Dolls, that addresses the immorality of human trafficking. This very special benefit will be held at the Chinatown Soup Gallery at 16 Orchard Street, New York on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Chinatown Soup is a curated space that features the work of underserved artists of all backgrounds.

Portland Stage Kicks Off 2018 with BABETTE'S FEAST

Portland Stage is pleased to present Babette's Feast, running Jan 23 through Feb 18 on the Mainstage. This production of Babette's Feast was conceived and developed by Portland Stage Affiliate Artist Abigail Killeen in a process that began over a decade ago. The production is made possible by the generous support of Jennifer Carolyn King & Timothy Fredel, the Rugged Elegance Foundation.
