Vaganova Master Classes with Valentina Kozlova (former principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet and New York City Ballet) will begin next week at New York City Center (entrance on West 56thStreet).

Valentina Kozlova's International Ballet Competition 2016 is April 25-3 at Symphony Space, 95tStreet & Broadway.  The event is dedicated toViolette Verdy. The beloved ballerina, choreographer, teacher, and writer was an early mentor of VKIBC and Valentina Kozlova.   Ms. Verdy was a judge in the first edition of VKIBC and later a competition honorary chairman.

Dirk Badenhorst, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the South African International Ballet Competition (SAIBC) has announced that the fifth SAIBC will take place from 22 to 28 February 2016, at the Artscape Opera House in Cape Town. The closing date for entries is 1 February 2016.

The Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition (VKIBC 2016) is dedicated to Violette Verdy, a wonderful human being as well as an early mentor of VKIBC and Valentina Kozlova. The fifth South African International Ballet Competition (SAIBC) will take place from 23 to 28 February 2016 at the Artscape Opera House in Cape Town. Approximately fifteen dancers are from Gauteng.

Stella Abrera and Misty Copeland have been promoted to the rank of Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre and Skylar Brandt, Thomas Forster, Arron Scott and Cassandra Trenary have been promoted to Soloist effective August 1, 2015.   In addition, Maria Kochetkova, a principal dancer with San Francisco Ballet and Alban Lendorf, a principal dancer with Royal Danish Ballet will join the Company as Principal Dancers and Jeffrey Cirio, a principal dancer with Boston Ballet, will join ABT as a Soloist, it was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

The May 26-30 Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition (VKIBC), will welcome 150 dancers from 22 countries around the world. They will travel to New York for four days of ballet competition, with a round for contemporary choreography, followed by the May 30th announcement of the recipients of medals, scholarships, and special prizes, and a Gala Performance.

The highlight of Festival Ballet Providence's spring season is JuxtaPOSE, including two masterworks of ballet, the Rhode Island premiere of Etudes and the long awaited return of Coma. The performances take place on Friday, March 13 at 8:00pm and Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 7:30pm at The Vets, One Avenue of the Arts, Providence, RI.

It is no coincidence that this production will take place on the very stage where the former Cleveland Ballet hosted its first professional performances during the late 1970's. Founded by former Cleveland San Jose Ballet principal dancer, Gladisa Guadalupe, who also serves as the company's artistic director, Cleveland Ballet Youth Company is laying the ground work to re-introduce professional ballet to Cleveland audiences. Where it All Began will feature the entire company of Cleveland Ballet Youth Company along with several guest artists from the company's professional division.
