The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and preserving musical gems from the past, has announced the 2017 summer New2NY Series presentation of the new musical Me & Ella, written and performed by Andrea Frierson (Once on This Island, The Lion King), direction by the Tony Award-winning team of Murphy Cross and Paul Kreppel (Jay Johnson: The Two and Only), with music direction and arrangements by Ron Abel (Hazel, A Musical Maid in America, 'Happily Divorced').

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was thrilled to present 'A Sophisticated Reunion' on Monday, May 23. The one-night-only event starred Terri Klausner, Valarie Pettiford and Ty Stephens, who met in Sophisticated Ladies, a Broadway musical review based on the music of Duke Ellington, which opened in March of 1981.
Tony Award-nominee Michael Arden has just concluded a weeklong research and development session led by Broadway and television star Tituss Burgess, Tony Award-winners Steve Kazee and Marissa Jaret Winokur, and Tony Award-nominee Valarie Pettiford (Fosse), in advance of a new production of the Stephen Sondheim masterwork Merrily We Roll Along, set to hit the stage of the Bram Goldsmith Theater at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts November 22, 2016 through December 18, 2016. Wednesday, March 23rd, DO40 brings together gypsies from many generations (and many who are DO40 members) to celebrate all things Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon at St. Luke's Theater, 308 West 46th Street, 7pm. Featured throughout the evening: Nicole Fosse, Valarie Pettiford, Harvey Evans, Dana Moore, Lloyd Culbreath, Gene Foote, George Marcy, Diana Laurenson, Dick Korthaze, Pam Sousa and Mimi Quillin. DO40 members Kevin Winkler and John Gilvey are both more than half way through writing their books on this dynamic duo and they will discuss how they came to write about them in a special panel with Nicole Fosse, and a Q & A during the segment. Winker's book is titled Big Deal: Bob Fosse and Dance in the American Musical, and Gilvey's, Brains and Talent: The Life and Allure of Legendary Entertainer Gwen Verdon. We are working with the Fosse/Verdon Legacy, LLC to bring you more information on their workshops, and present a moving history, through the eyes (and feet!) of those who knew them best: Broadway dancers.
