Fresh off the triumphant run of Sunset Boulevard, NANCY ANDERSON will play the role of world-famous spiritual teacher Mama Sid in New York Musical Festival and 4M Productions' East Coast premiere of THE FOURTH MESSENGER, a contemporary Western re-imagining of the Buddha legend featuring a flawed, female Buddha figure, as part of the New York Musical Festival.

The Music Hall's Writers in the Loft series welcomes the National Book Award-winning author of Three Junes, Julia Glass, today, June 21. The beloved writer visits with her latest work, A HOUSE AMONG THE TREES, a richly plotted novel about friendship, art, and the power of a legacy.

New York Musical Festival and 4M Productions will present the East Coast premiere of THE FOURTH MESSENGER, a contemporary Western re-imagining of the Buddha legend featuring a flawed, female Buddha figure, as part of the New York Musical Festival. The production, which begins performances on Tuesday, July 18th at The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street) includes book and lyrics by Tanya Shaffer and music and additional lyrics by Vienna Teng, and is directed by Broadway director Matt August (Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas: the Musical). Ford's Theatre Society announced that it set revenue and attendance records with its 2016-2017 theatrical season, which included the musicals Come From Away and Ragtime, productions of A Christmas Carol and Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and the one-act play One Destiny. The 'play that changed American theater forever' (New York Times) comes to Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater for the first time ever this spring.

Ford's Theatre Society announced that a donation drive during performances of this season's "A Christmas Carol" has raised $88,067 for Food & Friends. This brings the "A Christmas Carol" company's eight-year totals to more than $639,595 raised for Washington charities that aid thousands within the D.C.-area who struggle with hunger, illness and homelessness.

NewArts, a nonprofit organization based in Newtown, CT, is producing its first winter production - Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol - in partnership with Walnut Hill Community Church.
