The TheaterMakers Studio will present the fifth annual TheaterMakers Summit, on November 6 and 7, with a special bonus day on November 8. With Broadway reopening, the theme of this year's event is 'Places Please.' The 2021 TheaterMakers Summit will be held virtually for attendees and speakers.

National New Play Network will welcome Cara Mía Theatre (Dallas, TX), East West Players (Los Angeles, CA), St. Louis Black Rep (University City, MO), Teatro Luna West (Los Angeles, CA), Theater Alliance (Washington, D.C.), and Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company (Atlanta, GA) as its newest Core Member Theaters.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is thrilled to announce the appointment of LaTeshia Ellerson as its new director of institutional philanthropy. Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company announced winners of its 14th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition National Finals,  held virtually on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 7pm ET. The first place winner was Taloria Merricks from Atlanta; second place, Taylor Jackson from Atlanta; and third place, Tyla Uzo from Los Angeles.

​​​​​​​Milwaukee Rep finalist Yexuanj Rivera Melendez, from Milwaukee High School of the Arts, finished in the top six in the National August Wilson Monologue Competition (AWMC) winning a $500 scholarship.

Bay Street Theater and Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced the addition of playwright and producer Josh Wilder as Artistic Associate. Josh will originate this newly created position alongside Artistic Director Scott Schwartz and Associate Artistic Director Will Pomerantz, and newly added Literary Manager, Hope Villanueva, to develop Mainstage productions, new works, and special projects on behalf of Bay Street Theater.

Two winners, Yexuanj Rivera Melendez from Milwaukee High School of the Arts and Fardowso Shidad from Rufus King High School, with alternate Kamani Graham from Pius XI High School, were selected to represent Milwaukee in the National competition on May 3, 2021. 

Regional Finals held virtually with participants performing on the stage of the Kirk Douglas Theatre and the judges viewing remotely but in real time. The competition was streamed March 23, 2021.
