Jeanna de Waal (currently starring in Broadway's Kinky Boots; who also starred in the Off-Broadway revival of Carrie; Green Day's American Idiot on Broadway; We Will Rock You on the West End; and Glinda in the National Tour of Wicked) has joined the lineup of special guests for Martin and Realbuto's April 25th Outcasts Like Us concert at 54 Below. Previously announced Anneliese van der Pol has left the event due to scheduling issues.
For one night only producer Caleb Ryan and friends are reviving the timeless music of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart to raise money for Operation Smile as part of a new Broadway charitable initiative 'A Broadway Smile'
Popular up and coming writers Tim Realbuto and Matthew Martin (creators of the Broadway bound musical Ghostlight) will be doing their second concert at 54 Below, following their hugely successful concert last month. This encore presentation is entitled Outcasts Like Us: More Songs by Martin and Realbuto and will benefit the charity STOMP Out Bullying.

On Monday, January 27, Broadway, jazz and pop performers jammed Jim Caruso's Cast Party at Birdland, as they have every Monday for the past ten years! The evening was made especially meaningful with the 5th 'Mentor Monday,' a monthly musical segment that pairs up and coming composers with established artists. Presenter Trevor McQueen combined Broadway's Lillias White with writers Ethan Pakchar and Douglas Lyons, a young songwriting team who began collaborating while touring with The Book of Mormon. The resulting performance was the song, 'Not Meant To Be in Love,' accompanied by Matt Aument, which gave Lillias ample opportunity to be vampy and campy and otherwise leave the audience helpless with laughter. It was a perfect way to introduce the community to Lyons & Pakchar's clever wordplay and catchy melodies!

As previously reported, the highly buzzed about musical Ghostlight, by popular up-and-comers Matthew Martin and Tim Realbuto, presented an industry reading on Monday, January 13th at Theater Three on West 43rd Street, following two highly-attended backer's auditions on December 2nd at The New 42nd Street Studios. Kevin Lambert (Broadway's Godspell) presented the January 13th reading, which was directed by Realbuto and Martin and featured a starstudded 18 person cast, including Drama League nominee and Great Comet star Phillipa Soo, three time Tony nominee Carolee Carmello, Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli, Jennifer Hope Wills, Kimberly Faye Greenberg, Trevor McQueen, and Abigail Ludrof. Alison Holman (Freedom's Song) provided the musical direction.

Ghostlight had two highly-attended, successful backer's auditions at The New 42nd Street Studios on December 2nd. Jim Caruso's Cast Party, Birdland's 'extreme' open mic, is proud to announce the upcoming MENTOR MONDAYS segment, which takes place on the last Monday of every month. MENTOR MONDAYS pairs up-and-coming singers and composers with established artists to create a featured performance for the historic Birdland stage. MENTOR MONDAYS gives emerging young performers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to collaborate with some of New York's most talented musical theater songsmiths, including Adam Guettel, Lisa Lambert, Frank Wildhorn, Amanda Green, John Bucchino and Georgia Stitt, as well as singers Jane Monheit and Billy Porter.

The December 2nd evening was directed by Martin and Realbuto and featured an all-star cast which included 'That's So Raven's' Anneliese van der Pol as Olive Thomas, Three-time Tony nominee Carolee Carmello as Billie Burke, Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli as Ziegfeld, 'Pippin' star Rachel Bay Jones as Molly Cook, Kimberly Faye Greenberg as Fanny Brice, and Trevor McQueen as Jack Pickford.
