As previously reported, the highly buzzed about musical Ghostlight, by popular up-and-comers Matthew Martin and Tim Realbuto, presented an industry reading on Monday, January 13th at Theater Three on West 43rd Street, following two highly-attended backer's auditions on December 2nd at The New 42nd Street Studios. Kevin Lambert (Broadway's Godspell) presented the January 13th reading, which was directed by Realbuto and Martin and featured a starstudded 18 person cast, including Drama League nominee and Great Comet star Phillipa Soo, three time Tony nominee Carolee Carmello, Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli, Jennifer Hope Wills, Kimberly Faye Greenberg, Trevor McQueen, and Abigail Ludrof. Alison Holman (Freedom's Song) provided the musical direction.

Less than an hour after the performance concluded, creator Tim Realbuto received a phone call offering the show a full workshop in the fall by a popular theatre company, which cannot be named at this time. In a statement, the creative team said "We've been told that's pretty much unheard of. We are so honored and flattered that the community has welcomed our show with such open arms. We've been working on it for many years. We can't wait for the workshop process because we still have kinks to iron out, but we feel ready to do that. We still have several meetings lined up with producers, investors and potential directors, so we can't announce any definite plans yet or agree to any first offers this quickly, but we have a feeling that we'll be telling Olive's story to the masses very soon. Everyone's goal is to do a workshop, then an out-of-town tryout, with a hopeful Broadway opening within the next couple of seasons."

Ghostlight had its initial reading in April 2011 at Center Stage New York, followed by its sold-out and extended world premiere at the Signature Theatre as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival in Sept.-Oct. 2011. Actors that have been involved with Ghostlight throughout the years include Rachel York, Anneliese Van Der Pol, Rachel Bay Jones, Christina Sajous, Michael Hayden, Matt Leisy, Gary Lindemann, Jacey Powers, and Tony Award winner Daisy Eagan.

Ghostlight tells the incredible true story of the rise and fall of infamous Ziegfeld Follies Girl and silent film star Olive Thomas. For more information or to contact the creative team, please visit www.ghostlightthemusical.com
