World renowned Broadway Musical set designer and Multiple Tony Award / Drama Desk Award Winner Tony Walton joins The Encore for part of the summer! Mr. Walton is guest directing My Fair Lady, starring Jessica Grove and Daniel Gerroll, and co-directed By Daniel C. Cooney. MY FAIR LADY is now running through August 28, 2016. Walton and Grove worked together several times previously and Walton has referred to Jessica as 'his muse'. Tony Walton was also the first husband of Julie Andrews.

Legendary scenic and costume designer, MICHAEL YEARGAN (currently represented on Broadway with Fiddler on the Roof and The King and I), and costume designer SUSAN TSU are among the 2016 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 20, at 6:30pm, at the Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street). Ms. Tsu was selected to receive the 2016 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Yeargan will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. The awards are presented through Theatre Development Fund's Costume Collection.

The Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director and Ciaran O'Reilly, Producing Director) presents its first production of 2016, THE BURIAL AT THEBES written by Irish Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney, based on Sophocles' Antigone. Directed by Charlotte Moore, THE BURIAL AT THEBES will now star two-time Emmy Award-winner and Tony nominee Larry Bryggman (Proof, Picnic, "As the World Turns") as Creon, The King of Thebes (who replaces the previously announced John Cullum), and Rebekah Brockman (seen as Nettie on the acclaimed Cinemax series "The Knick") as Antigone. THE BURIAL AT THEBES will be performed Thursday, January 14 - Sunday, March 6, 2016. Opening Night is scheduled for Sunday, January 24, 2016. The circus is in town and I ain't talking about Barnum & Bailey! The national tour of the 2013 revival of PIPPIN made its way to the Bayou City and I'm hippopotamusly happy to see this tour! When creative geniuses such as Bob Fosse and Stephen Schwartz are at the helm of the original material, there's no denying that a musical theatre maven such as myself would be overzealous.

Oscar-winning and Emmy-nominated Production Designer Patrizia von Brandenstein will receive the Art Directors Guild's Lifetime Achievement Award at the 20th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards on January 31, 2016 at a black-tie ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
