Berkshire Theatre Group to Stage THE CLUB, 7/31-8/9

Berkshire Theatre Group presentsThe Club at The Garage, directed by Rocco Sisto, co-directed and choreographed by Barbara Allen, with musical direction by Deb Lapidus and featuring Deborah Grausman, Kathy Jo Grover, Annette Miller and Maureen O'Flynn at The Garage at BTG's Pittsfield Campus. Opening Night is Friday, July 31 at 8pm, and the production closes Sunday, August 9 at 8pm.

Tickets Now On Sale for WAM's IN DARFUR

WAM (Women's Action Movement) Theatre is gearing up for its most ambitious and daring fall production: the New England premiere of Winter Miller's timely drama, In Darfur. Preparations come on the heels of WAM Theatre's enlightening fifth-season celebration, Change Makers, during which Artistic Director Kristen van Ginhoven announced that Mother of Peace Ilovo, an orphanage in South Africa, will be the beneficiary of WAM's 2014 philanthropic donation. In Darfur will run from October 30 - November 16 at the Berry Family Studio at Shakespeare & Company, where tickets are now available for purchase. Opening night is Saturday, November 1.

Shakespeare & Company to Welcome Vern Thiessen for Talk Back, 8/9

Artistic Director Tony Simotes welcomes Award-Winning Canadian Playwright Vern Thiessen for a special Talk Back focusing on his provocative one-woman play Shakespeare's Will, on Saturday, August 9th immediately following the 3:00pm performance. The 85-minute play, directed by Daniela Varon and starring Kristin Wold, both of whom will be on-hand for the Talk Back, imagines the bold and unapologetic journey of Shakespeare's enigmatic wife, Anne Hathaway, and the couple's unconventional courtship and marriage. Shakespeare's Will kicked off the Company's celebratory season back in May honoring the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth. Performances continue to run in the Bernstein Theatre through August 24.

Shakespeare & Company's ROMEO AND JULIET to Run 7/17-8/23 at The Mount, Edith Wharton's Home

Shakespeare & Company's Northeast Regional Tour of Romeo and Juliet, directed by Jonathan Croy, returns home to Lenox settling in for special limited engagement at The Mount, Edith Wharton's Home. After playing to tens of thousands of students this winter and spring, the Company's non-union schools tour, the Northeast Regional Tour of Shakespeare, will perform their unique six-actor, 90-minute version of William Shakespeare's timeless tale of star-crossed lovers outdoors at 2 Plunkett Street-the address where the landmark theatre company was founded in 1978. Now in its 34th year, the Northeast Regional Tour of Shakespeare has proven to be one of the Education Program's most successful and popular programs, reaching over 25,000 students every year.

Shakespeare & Company's Midsummer Night's Celebration a Hit!

Shakespeare & Company's Midsummer Night's Celebration, held last weekend, was a magical and unforgettable evening that celebrated the Bard's 450th birthday and the Company's 37thseason. Artistic Director Tony Simotes and Co-Chairs Phoebe Giddon and Deborah Ryan presented an enchanting evening with a New Orleans Jazz Era theme, and welcomed over 250 guests to the Tina Packer Playhouse. Guests of Honor included Governor Deval Patrick and Shakespeare & Company's newly appointed Executive Director Rick Dildine.

Celebrate the Fourth of July with Shakespeare & Company

Shakespeare & Company is pleased to invite the Berkshire community to a blowout July Fourth Celebration. This lively and family-friendly day is a FREE event, open to the public. Attendance at past Fourth celebrations has included over 800 artists, celebrities, company members, and members of the Berkshire community. So break out the blankets, Frisbees and sunscreen, and enjoy a fun-filled day of music, song, a classic all American barbeque and an awe-inspiring reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Artistic Director Tony Simotes and Co-Chairs Phoebe Giddon and Deborah Ryan will present a magical and unforgettable evening celebrating the 450thbirthday of William Shakespeare and the start of Shakespeare & Company's Summer Season. Guests of Honor Governor Deval Patrick and First Lady Diane B. Patrick will be in attendance, as well as Rick Dildine, Shakespeare & Company's newly appointed Executive Director in his first public appearance. The evening will also feature the opening night performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Simotes and set in the mysterious bayous of New Orleans during the height of the Jazz Age. Proceeds from the Midsummer Night's Celebration will benefit Shakespeare & Company's nationally recognized Education and Training programs.

The production features original music, live musicians, a Drama League partnership, and a cast of over a dozen seasoned Company actors and newcomers.

Shakespeare & Company Receives State Grant of $290,000

A newly announced grant of $290,000 from the State of Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF) will support Shakespeare & Company's long term goal of creating an integrated 'green' campus and moves it one step closer to restoring and renovating its 33-acre property. The grant is part of a new round of Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund grants -- totaling close to $14 million -- which are set to boost the state's creative sector by supporting new building projects for nonprofit arts and cultural organizations, schools, and communities across Massachusetts.

Rick Dildine Named New Executive Director of Shakespeare & Company

Shakespeare & Company Board Chair Sarah Hancock announced today that Rick Dildine, previously of Shakespeare Festival St. Louis, will become the organization's Executive Director and President, starting early September 2014. In this role, Mr. Dildine will be directly responsible for all of the Company's programming and administrative activities.
