While MS. BLAKK FOR PRESIDENT's narrative flounders in certain points, the play's integrity never flounders. Watching the play unfold, there's no denying the relevance of the issues that Blakk faced in 1992 to today's society. BroadwayWorld has a first look at Steppenwolf Theatre Company's world premiere of MS. BLAKK FOR PRESIDENT, co-written by ensemble members Tina Landau (SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical) and Tarell Alvin McCraney (Moonlight, Academy Award). Conceived by Tina Landau, she also directs this true and little-known Chicago story that will star Tarell Alvin McCraney as Ms. Joan Jett Blakk. Joining McCraney in the cast are Patrick Andrews, Molly Brennan, Daniel Kyri, Jon Hudson Odom and Sawyer Smith.

A limited edition two LP yellow vinyl set of the original Broadway cast recording of COME FROM AWAY will be released on Friday, May 31. The vinyl will be available exclusively online and in store at Barnes and Noble. The vinyl lacquers were cut by Clint Holley at Well Made Music and the records were pressed at Memphis Record Pressing. David Lai, Ian Eisendrath, August Eriksmoen, Irene Sankoff and David Hein serve as album producers.

Broadway In Chicago is delighted to announce that individual tickets for the national tour of COME FROM AWAY, a new musical about the true story of the small town that welcomed the world, will go on sale to the public on Friday, May 31. COME FROM AWAY will make its Chicago debut at Broadway In Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W. Randolph) for a limited engagement July 30 through August 18, 2019.
