In the special interview below, Richard welcomes 2015 Lifetime Achievement recipient Tommy Tune!

Today in 1982, a return engagement of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas opened at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, where it ran for 63 performances. The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is a musical with a book by Texas author Larry L. King and Peter Masterson and music and lyrics by Carol Hall. It is based on a story by King that was inspired by the real-life Chicken Ranch in La Grange, Texas. The original Broadway production was directed by Peter Masterson and Tommy Tune and choreographed by Tune and Thommie Walsh. It opened on June 19, 1978 at the 46th Street Theatre and ran for 1,584 performances.

A limited block of tickets to the 69th Annual Tony Awards will go on sale today to the public at 12 noon EST. Prices range from $300 to $500 and will be available on TonyAwards.com.

Tina Brown, Diane von Furstenberg and Pamela Thomas-Graham celebrated Broadway director Stephen Daldry at Barbetta Restaurant (321 West 46th Street) today, May 28th. Daldry has just been nominated for a Tony Award for Best Direction in a Play for SKYLIGHT, starring Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan. The TONY AWARDS have announced the line-up of stars who will take the stage at the 69th Annual Tony Awards. The 2015 TONY AWARDS will broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, on CBS, on Sunday, June 7th 8:00 - 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT time delay) and are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

We are yet another day closer to the biggest night on every theatre-lover's calendar- the 69th Annual Tony Awards, which will be co-hosted by Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming on Sunday, June 7 (8PM on CBS). Spend Sunday brunch at the Vulture Festival this weekend!  Broadway favorites will join Susan Blackwell for a morning of songs, debauchery and adult beverages, including Jefferson Mays (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), Sarah Stiles (Hand to God), Brad Oscar (Something Rotten), Christian Borle (Something Rotten), Scarlett Strallen (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), and Geneva Carr (Hand to God).

On Sunday evening, 54 Below celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the musical Grand Hotel on Broadway in high style with two performances crackling with energy and featuring a talented roster of performers including 13 from the original cast. Splendidly Directed (and Written) by Walter Willison, with Musical Direction by Alex Rybeck, Bass Accompaniment from Ray Kiddain, and Dance Supervision by Yvonne Marceau, the delicious production (one really can't call it a concert despite lack of dialogue) was fluid, polished, and imaginative in its use of the room. From leads to the chorus, voices were strong, commitment thorough. In the audience, Tommy Tune must've had a helluva time. We did.

The Jewish Channel will broadcast the latest edition of its popular theater-oriented monthly TV show, 'Row J,' to begin airing on demand today, May 22. Row J' is hosted by TJC correspondent Meredith Ganzman. The executive producer is Brian Scott Lipton.

Christian Borle, FUN HOME's Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron, Max Von Essen and many more gathered last nightfor the Tony Awards Creative Arts Nominees Reception, and BroadwayWorld was on hand to capture the night!

Just yesterday, special Tony honoree Tommy Tune,  who is referenced in It's Only A Play and who won his first Tony® in the Featured Actor category, celebrated Micah Stock's first Tony nomination by surprising him ON STAGE at the curtain call of Wednesday's matinee.
