At Manhattan School of Music's 2015 gala tonight, which honored Bebe Neuwirth and welcomed special guests Angela Lansbury, Barbara Cook, Marlo Thomas, Phil Donahue, and Tommy Tune in the Broadway Melody at the Rainbow Room, MSM President James Gandre announced that, beginning in fall 2016, MSM will become the first-ever independent music conservatory in New York (and only the second in the country) to offer a degree program in musical theater.

Awards were presented to more than 25 outstanding actors, directors, designers and ensembles tonight by The Boston Theater Critics Association (BTCA), at the 33nd Annual Elliot Norton Awards ceremony, held at Boston's Citi Performing Arts Center Shubert Theatre. Scroll down for the full list!

The 13th Street Repertory Theater celebrated veteran stage/film/TV actor Ray DeMattis' 50th anniversary in the business -- honoring his lifetime achievements -- by proclaiming May 10th 'Ray DeMattis Day.'  DeMattis was presented with a framed certificate of honor by one of his proteges -- Michael J.C. Anderson, an actor with the 13th Street Rep.  And DeMattis, in turn, presented the first annual  'Ray DeMattis Award,' honoring young artists-to-watch, to actors Cody Jordan and John Brady, co-stars of Chip Deffaa's musical-comedy success  'Mad About the Boy.'  They each received a plaque, a copy of a cast album featuring DeMattis ('Flora the Red Menace'), and a $100.00 honorarium.

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP), celebrating a quarter century of creating community through American tap and contemporary percussive arts through innovative performance, education and outreach programs, welcomes 10-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune at its 25th Anniversary Jubalee Gala. This special evening, hosted by WGN's Dean Richards, takes place July 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, 220 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago.

 From May 14 to 31 (rescheduled from May 7 to 24), The Morningside Players will present 'Fences,' the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning play by August Wilson, directed by Arthur French, a stalwart veteran of Broadway and Off-Broadway who is also a prime interpreter of August Wilson's plays.

On June 6th, designer and director Tony Walton will receive The Goodspeed Award for Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theatre at Goodspeed Musicals' Gala event RAZZLE DAZZLE. Just announced, Julie Andrews will present Walton with the award at the event.

Bruce Willis and Mary-Louise Parker just announced the 2015 Tony Award Nominations LIVE from the Paramount Hotel's Diamond Horseshoe in New York City - also revealing that Kristin Chenoweth (currently starring On the Twentieth Century) and Alan Cumming will officially host the June ceremony. The cast is led by Tony Award winners Chita Rivera as Claire Zachannassian and Roger Rees as Anton Schell, with George Abud as Karl, Jason Danieley as Frederich Kuhn, Matthew Demingas Louis Perch, Diana Dimarzio as Annie Dummermut, Tony Award nominee David Garrison as Peter Dummermut, Rick Holmes as Father Josef, Tom Nelis as Rudi, Chris Newcomer as Jacob Chicken,Mary Beth Peil as Matilde Schell, Aaron Ramey as Otto Hahnke, Elena Shadow as Ottilie, Timothy Shew as Hans Nusselin, with John Riddle and Michelle Veintimilla. While the sky may have been a little cloudy, the stars were shining bright at The Hobby Center as Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) celebrated the 13th Annual Tommy Tune Awards showcasing Houston's extraordinary and remarkable high school musical theatre talent. Sarofim Hall was practically filled to the brim, with over 400+ students, their directors and choreographers, and parents and friends. The nerves and excitement could hardly be ignored, as everyone sat in anticipation for the show to start. As Caroline Timm, Assistant Manager of PR & Marketing put it, 'this show is like the Tonys for these kids.' As the lights went down, the entire room burst out in applause and cheers, which would stop only momentarily throughout the night.
