The New York Pops marked its 31st birthday with a grand gala evening last night, celebrating the work of composer, lyricist, and arranger Marc Shaiman and director, lyricist, and writer Scott Wittman, as well as the leadership and mentorship work of corporate honoree Paul J. Massey, Jr., CEO and Founding Partner of Massey Knakal Realty Services. Gala Co-Chairs include Neil Heilberg, Todd Korren, William C. Montana, and James A. Read. Serving as Honorary Co-Chairs for the event are stars Matthew Broderick, Debra Messing, and Sarah Jessica Parker. Renowned Broadway producer Hal Prince will soon be setting up house in record exec and past X Factor judge L.A. Reid's former Park Avenue residence. Located at 515 Park Avenue, the full-floor apartment was picked off the market last month for $16.5 million.

ELF, a holiday themed musical, first opened on Broadway in 2010. With the 2003 motion picture of the same title starring Will Ferrell as source material, theatergoers all over were interested in the sugarcoated musical. Negative reviews lead to a re-tooling of the show, and it returned to Broadway in 2012 in addition to having a mini tour of the US. Now, in 2013, Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) is bringing the confection to Houston audiences with a locally produced production of the saccharine holiday confection that is rather donuts for dinner.

Hal Prince has more than just Prince of Broadway in the works, according to the New York Post's Michael Riedel. The producer is developing another new Broadway show based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's short story THE DIAMOND AS BIG AS THE RITZ. The production will feature a score by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Eric Price and book by Tom Meehan.

Shout! Broadway released the new 2012 Cast Recording for ANNIE CD on Tuesday, June 18. To celebrate the release of the CD cast members Jane Lynch, Anthony Warlow, Lilla Crawford, Brynn O'Malley, Clarke Thorell, creators Charles Strouse, Martin Charnin and Tom Meehan and more signed copies of the album at Barnes & Noble (160 East 54th Street at 3rd Avenue) yesterday. The third production to be staged at the brand new pop-up theatre space in Chichester is the world premiere of a witty and disturbing thriller by Penelope Skinner, one of the UK's most highly praised emerging playwrights. The cast includes award-winning actress Cush Jumbo and Olivia Poulet.

We caught up with the very, very busy Rob McClure, who has been seen waddling around New York City, baggy pants, cane-in-hand, twitchy mustache tickling and already capturing the crowd as the incomparable Charlie Chaplin.
