Tickets for the Broadway run of AMERICAN IDIOT are now available exclusively to American Express card holders. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on February 14th. AMERICAN IDIOT will begin previews on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 and open on Broadway Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the St. James Theatre.

With over 30 shows opening this month on DC area stages, there is a buffet of choices for local theatre goers and visitors to our nation's capital, from a Tom Kitt musical, to a bloody barber pie-filled Sondheim feast, to children's classics adapted for the stage, to American Idol contestants with slicked back hair, to a psycho woman and her schizo sister, to Commedia dell'Arte. On Monday, January 25, a starry ensemble including Matthew Broderick, Jill Clayburgh, Josh Hamilton, Ethan Hawke, Marin Ireland, Natasha Lyonne, Marsha Mason, Laurie Metcalf, John Pankow, Sam Shepard, Reshma Shetty, Maggie Siff, Frank Whaley, Karen Young, Keith Carradine, Ann Harada, and Anika Larsen honored Robyn Goodman with the Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater at The New Group's 2010 Gala Benefit. The Gala took place at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill in an dinner and auction event hosted by Wallace Shawn and Jeff Whitty.

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) will present the world premiere of MR. & MRS. FITCH, a new comedy from Douglas Carter Beane (The Little Dog Laughed, Xanadu) starring Tony Award winners John Lithgow and Jennifer Ehle.

Second Stage Theatre has announced that Tony Award winners John Lithgow and Jennifer Ehle will star as MR. & MRS. FITCH in the world premiere comedy from Douglas Carter Beane. The production marks Mr. Beane's return to Second Stage Theatre where his critically acclaimed, Tony-nominated play The Little Dog Laughed premiered in 2005. MR. & MRS. FITCH will be directed by Scott Ellis, who also staged the world premiere and Broadway transfer of The Little Dog Laughed. Previews begin at Second Stage Theatre on January 26, 2010; opening night is scheduled for Thursday, February 22.

Join Peter Rabbit, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail when they meet Mr. McGregor, Jemima Puddle-Duck and Mittens, Moppet and Tom Kitten, all in a colorful, wonderful revival of the Beatrix Potter classics in PETER RABBIT & FRIENDS at the Roxy Regional Theatre.

The 168 page songbook of piano and vocal selections for the Tony Award-winning musical 'Next to Normal' is now available in stores and online. Issued by Alfred Music Publishing, the book features 26 songs from the musical including, "I Miss the Mountains," "Everything Else," "You Don't Know," "I Am the One," "Superboy and the Invisible Girl," "I'm Alive," "I've Been, "Didn't I See This Movie," "Hey," "Maybe (Next to Normal)," "So Anyway" and "Light." Next to Normal features music by Tom Kitt, book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey, and direction by Michael Greif. The musical garnered a Tony Award for Best Original Score.

The Fifth Annual Goodspeed Festival of New Artists, produced by Goodspeed Musicals' Max Showalter Center for Education in the Musical Theater, kicks off its much anticipated three day festival of brand new works on Friday, January 15, at the Goodspeed Opera House with a staged reading of Hello Out There. On Saturday, January 16, the triple feature musical ReWrite debuts.  On the final day of the festival, Lincoln in Love will be presented. Several special events will round out this exciting weekend. 

Stephen Sondheim turns 80 on Monday, March 22nd, 2010 and he will celebrate this landmark event with Roundabout Theatre Company at a special performance of Sondheim on Sondheim and star-studded tribute at Roundabout's 2010 Spring Gala: Sondheim 80.

Following the record-breaking and critically acclaimed engagement of 'American Idiot' at the Berkeley Rep, the production is now Broadway-bound. 'American Idiot' will begin previews in March 2010 and open on Broadway in April at the St. James Theatre. The Broadway cast will be announced shortly.

Aaron Tveit left the Tony-nominated musical Next to Normal on January 4 and the role of Gabe is now being performed by Kyle Dean Massey. Massey previously played the role during Tveit's summer absence from June - September, while he was starring in Catch Me If You Can.
