Local performance artist and contemporary clown Francesca Montanile Lyons is bringing her solo show VILE back home to Philadelphia after a successful national tour last summer.

 Quintessence Theatre just announced it is adding five more performances of Martin Crimp’s diabolically hilarious and heartbreaking adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac, starring Philadelphia’s J Hernandez in the titular role.

Considered one of the world’s one hundred greatest plays, Quintessence is producing the Philadelphia Premiere of the adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac by “in-yer-face” British playwright Martin Crimp (The Misanthrope, 2013 and The Chairs, 2022.) Check out production photos!

Quintessence Theatre has announced the Philadelphia premiere of Martin Crimp’s CYRANO DE BERGERAC, running from September 25 to October 20.

The historical Coriolanus, if he existed at all, was Rome’s most fearsome fighter, trained as a child, excelling as a warrior-leader and able to conquer whole other cities sometimes single-handedly. Even so, James Finley, who portrays the title character in Shakespeare’s tragedy in an eye-opening co-production by the Avant Bard Theatre with Longacre Lea, may be working even harder.

Quintessence Theatre Group, Philadelphia's professional classic repertory theatre, will conclude with Season XII: Breaking the Cycle with a rotating repertory of Pearl Cleage’s epic historical fiction Flyin' West and Alexandre Dumas fils’ enduring tragic romance Camille.
