America's Orchestra opened its 129th spring season with Keith Lockhart conducting and Jason Alexander as special guest artist. Best known as Seinfeld's best buddy George Costanza, the Tony Award-winning Alexander is a consummate showman and offered a celebration of Broadway music to complement the Pops' selections by American masters from Copland to Ellington to Gershwin.

Riding the wave of enthusiasm for his newly released book 'Ham: Slices of a Life,' singer and entertainer extraordinaire Sam Harris played to a sold-out crowd at Feinstein's at the Nikko in San Francisco. They came expecting a great show and he did not disappoint. Calling his performance a 'liter-usical,' a combination of literary book tour and Broadway musical extravaganza, he alternated between reading juicy morsels (amuse-bouche, if you will) from his book with songs that served to highlight the chapters of his life.

Following a triumphant 2013 run, Sam Harris returns to 54 Below for four shows only (now through January 18, 2014), this time celebrating the release of his brand new book, HAM: Slices of a Life (Gallery Books/Simon & Schuster). This show of the same title is what Sam calls a 'liter-usical': a hybrid theatrical show featuring excerpts from the book, artfully interspersed with songs from his classic repertoire Harris is a multi-million selling recording artist and has starred on Broadway, on television and in concert for nearly three decades.
