'Rise: A Benefit For The Arthritis Foundation' had it's first performance on March 26th at the Davenport Theatre. The show was directed by Alyssa Williams, choreographed by Jose-Luis Lopez Jr. (On Your Feet, In The Heights) with Gina DePool as associate choreographer, and music directed by Justin Ramos.
The musical theatre department at the New York Film Academy (now known as the Professional Conservatory of Musical Theatre) was launched in 2009 with nine students in the first class. Nine years later, hundreds of students have studied musical theatre at NYFA. The school's mission is to teach techniques being used every night on Broadway… and their faculty is the backbone of the Great White Way!

And nobody facilitates those dreams quite like the Broadway Dreams Foundation. We welcomed the Broadway Dreams Foundation to Sessions recently to celebrate on the week of their annual NYC showcase. Join us were BDF faculty members Quentin Earl Darrington, Christopher Hanke, MiMi Scardulla, Todd Buonopane, Noah Ricketts, Galen Williams and more. Beyond that, we were thrilled to welcome international BDF students from Russia, Brazil and Sweden who brought the house all the way down. Showtunes in foreign languages! 54 Below presented '54 BELOW SINGS KANDER AND EBB'S WOMAN OF THE YEAR' on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017. This performance featured an all star cast with nine ladies singing the songs of TESS (Lauren Bacall on Broadway), four men singing for SAM, and all the other roles covered by the rest of the cast. The performers were: Klea Blackhurst, Todd Buonopane, Mary Callahan, Robert Cuccioli, Joyce DeWitt, Natalie Douglas, John Epperson, Anita Gillette, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Dee Hoty, Christine Toy Johnson, Luba Mason, Julia Murney, Brad Oscar, Christine Pedi, Eve Plumb, Robbie Rozelle, and Kevin Zak. The musical director was Joshua Zecher-Ross, with Corey Schuyler on the bass, Chris Schultz on the drums and Dan Glaude on the reed.
John Kander and Fred Ebb's 1981 Tony nominated musical Woman of the Year will come back to New York City for a one-night-only concert at Feinstein's/54 Below tonight, November 29th, 2017, at 7:00pm and 9:30pm, with a portion of the proceeds going to The Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative.

Broadway Sessions celebrates Broadway Dreams Foundation, November 16. Broadway Sessons is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano. This Thursday night, November 16th, Broadway Sessions celebrates the Broadway Dreams Foundation with performances by BDF faculty members as well as BDF students and international guests.
