Backstage at the 2019 Olivier Awards the BroadwayWorld UK team were able to speak to some of this year's winners.

A chilly, grey April afternoon: not the most auspicious weather for an occasion such as the Olivier Awards. Before the nominees and guests arrived it looked set to be another rain-soaked affair, as fans and members of the press were subjected to a bit of a drenching, but with the arrival of the stars came a dry spell - and a chance for us to chat with a selection of excited (and nervous) artists on their way into the Royal Albert Hall.

The top growing current Broadway musicals were Oklahoma! (33.30%), Tootsie The Musical (7.87%), Hadestown (6.74%), Ain't Too Proud (5.79%) and BeetleJuice (4.71%). The top growing current Broadway plays were King Lear (29.91%), Hillary and Clinton (24.25%), What The Constitution Means to Me (17.45%), Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus (6.86%) and Burn This (6.80%).

Global superstar Dennis Quaid is not only an accomplished actor, but he's also a singer-songwriter with hundreds of thousands of miles under his belt as a touring musician.

Today BET Networks announced second season pick-ups for both its half-hour subversive, smart, serialized comedy series 'BOOMERANG,' and the critically-acclaimed period drama based on the untold rise of the iconic music and dance program 'Soul Train,' 'AMERICAN SOUL.' BET is investing in partnerships with leading Black content creators with unique creative voices to bring viewers elevated storytelling and premium programming.

It cements Adrienne Warren's star and builds anticipation for her portrayal of Tina Turner on Broadway.
