Dennis Quaid Joins Adkins Publicity for Music PR Representation

Global superstar Dennis Quaid is not only an accomplished actor, but he's also a singer-songwriter with hundreds of thousands of miles under his belt as a touring musician.

Quaid, who's been playing music since his grandfather bought him his first guitar at a Texas Kmart, continues to receive stellar reviews displaying equal ease with both originals and country standards with his all-star band, Dennis Quaid & The Sharks. During a recent packed crowd at Billy Bob's Texas, one reviewer noted how Quaid "delivered a memorable two-hour, 19-song set. The 64-year-old Quaid rushed onto the stage like a 20-year-old, and leapt into the crowd with his guitar during the second song to share some high fives, all without missing a note on his six string" (ILoveFTW.com).

A relentless road warrior, Quaid's passion is writing, recording and delivering music to fans as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. After years of playing clubs with his band, the Sharks, Quaidreleased his debut album, Out of the Box.

"As far back as I can remember, music has always been a big part of my life," says Quaid. "My third cousin was Gene Autry, the original Western movie singing cowboy. My grandmother played piano and sang songs from the '20s, songs from her youth. My dad played piano and crooned like Bing Crosby and looked a little like Dean Martin."

Among Quaid's musical heroes are Buddy Holly, Hank Williams, Willie & Waylon, Johnny Cash, the Beatles, the Doors and James Brown. With influences like those, it's no surprise that members of the Sharks have serious musical pedigrees of their own: Jamie James led the Kingbees; Sharks members Tom Mancillas, Ken Stange and Tom Walsh have worked over the years with artists as varied as Harry Dean Stanton, Roger Miller, Tina Turner, Joe Cocker, Supertramp, Jose Feliciano and America.

Now, Dennis Quaid and The Sharks have released the first studio album of their 19-year history with "rock 'n' roll and country-soul," or asQuaid calls it, "a junkyard of American music."
