From August 28 to September 18, 2016 Theater for the New City (TNC), under the direction of Crystal Field, Artistic Director, will present its seventh Dream Up Festival, a feast of adventurous theater featuring new works from across the country and abroad. Helmed by the theater's Literary Manager, Michael Scott-Price, the festival offers 19 plays, all of which are world premieres or New York premieres.
?Tony Award-winner LILLIAS WHITE (Dreamgirls, Barnum, Chicago, The Life and Fela!) is set to return to The Triad (158 W. 72nd St.) on the Upper West Side for three special performances of "The Birthday Show" - celebrating White's 65th Birthday on Friday, July 22nd at 9PM, Saturday, July 23rd at 11PM and Sunday, July 24th at 7PM. Lillias White is also featured in 'The Get Down', the new Netflix series, executive produced by the legendary Baz Luhrmann (scheduled to begin streaming on Netflix on August 12th, 2016).

Tony Award winner, George Faison taps multi-genre recording artist Damien Sneed as the musical director and conductor for the CityParks Foundation's Central Park's SummerStage production of "The Wiz: A Celebration in Dance & Music" on Wednesday, August 12 at Rumsey Playfield, located on East 72nd Street, off Fifth Avenue in Central Park. The event is free, doors open at 7:00 p.m. and show time is 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. On Thursday, August 13, and Friday, August 14, the production will be held at Marcus Garvey Park at 120th Street and Fifth Avenue in Harlem, show time is 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The Wiz: A Celebration in Dance & Music will be produced, directed and choreographed by George Faison and Timothy Graphenreed is the musical supervisor and dance arranger for the production.
Lee Summers' 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy relief concert featured an all-star musical lineup, including Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The Who and Paul McCartney. The 'Just A Piano' concept broadened for this series inviting singers to also bring accompanists or pre-recorded tracks, musical instruments or play on The Triad's recently refurbished baby grand. All proceeds from the event were donated to The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund and The American Red Cross.
