Last weekend, the New York Philharmonic took to the stage to perform at Peenemünde, where the power plant's turbine hall had been converted to a concert hall some 20 years ago.

The New York Philharmonic is set to take up residency at the Usedom Music Festival, once the secretive home of the Third Reich's rocket and nuclear development program. Andre Previn and his family escaped the Nazis. His music will now be played where Hitler's regime tested its weapons.

For 20 years, the Peenemünde Concerts, a series within the framework of the Usedom Music Festival, have stood for peace and international understanding. In its anniversary year, on the occasion of which the world-famous New York Philharmonic will be making a guest appearance with a European residency on the island of Usedom from 20 to 24 May.

This May, Opera San José will play host to the nation’s next generation of opera stars during its Irene Dalis Vocal Competition, named for the internationally-acclaimed mezzo-soprano who founded Opera San José.

The Broad Stage will present Global superstar and Metropolitan Opera favorite Diana Damrau, returning alongside famed bass Nicolas Testé for a fun and lively program of opera, operetta, lieder, and songs on Sunday, April 24 at 7:30p.
