Writers in Performance is a 12-week writing and performance workshop hosted by BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, culminating in two public presentations. Throughout the course of the workshop, talented actors, playwrights, poets and storytellers have explored writing exercises, theater games, improvisation, movement techniques, and ensemble work in a safe, creative environment. This season, the theme and title of the Writers in Performance show is 'Home.' Writers in Performance participants are diverse by design; not only in ethnicity, but by age, and experience as well, mixing professionals with students. On Friday, December 2 & Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 7:30PM, the troupe will showcase the monologues and short scenes they have been crafting. THE CLOCKWORK BOY, a new play by Matt Tiemstra, will receive its New York premiere in the 2016 Thespis Theater Festival at the Hudson Guild Theater. The show follows a young android named Jeremy as he desperately tries to solve the mystery of his own existence among humans. Performances will begin September 20th at 9:00 p.m. at the Hudson Guild Theater on 441 West 26th Street. Emily Garrison directs the production.

Playwright, actress and TEDx speaker Amy Oestreicher, playwright and actress will have her short play, "The Sky is Blue" performed as part of Manhattan Repertory Theatre's Short Play Contest on August 17th and August 20th at 9pm. The scene is a short excerpt from Oestreicher's original full-length drama, Imprints, which will premiere this January at the Thespis Theatre Festival. Manhattan Repertory Theatre is a forum for playwrights, directors and actors to share and explore their craft. "The Sky is Blue" is a tribute to the true-to-life moment the Oestreicher first told her mother she was sexually abused, juxtaposed with the difficult healing process of her family underwent before she awoke from her coma.
