Broadway actor Steven Hauck will appear along with Mikel Sarah Lambert, former member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and Drama Desk nominee for the Mint Theatre's revival of D.H. Lawrence's The Daughter-in-Law, in THE ACTRESS, a new one act play by Carrie Robbins, to be presented later this month at the Hudson Guild Theater on August 22, 24 & 27, 2016. THE ACTRESS is directed by Paul Dobie and will be part of Thespis Productions 2016 Summerfest Theater Festival. Days of the Giants LLC will co-produce.

The story: Albertine Reign was a divinity on stage, adored and worshipped by fans worldwide. Backstage, however, was a completely different matter. According to "Hair," "Props" or "Stage Management" the goddess was far from heavenly! Nevertheless, on one particularly difficult day Ms. Reign saved her costume designer's ass.

THE ACTRESS is the newest play by the award-winning costume designer and playwright Carrie Robbins. Her play SAWBONES & THE DIAMOND EATER received 6 nominations from the NY Innovative Theatre Awards, more than any other production in 2014, and Her play LE WEDDING DRESS was selected as a semi-finalist by the NY New Works Theatre Festival in 2015. Robbins is a proud member of the 29th St. Playwrights Collective; the group was awarded a Creative Engagement Grant this year from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council & NY Dept. of Cultural Affairs for their collective works.

Director Paul Dobie has been assistant director for several major Broadway shows, including Once, Cabaret, Wicked and Glengarry Glen Ross. He was Associate Director for the Broadway and National Tours of Thoroughly Modern Millie as well as for Martin Short's Fame Becomes Me.

Steven Hauck has appeared on Broadway in The Velocity of Autumn and Irena's Vow, and Off-Broadway in One Arm (New Group/Moisés Kaufman, director) and The Screwtape Letters. Drama Desk nominee Mikel Sarah Lambert has also appeared on Broadway in Cyrano de Bergerac with Frank Langella and many regional theatres in this country and England. The company also features Thomas Leverton, Matt Baxter Luceno, Dana Smith-Croll and Jenne Vath. Craig M. Rosenthal is the Production Stage Manager. Set design by Joe Burkard, lighting by Jorge Arroyo, props by Jen Hebner, sound by Jacob Subotnick and wig design by Paul Huntley Productions. Robbins herself will be designing the costumes.

THE ACTRESS will perform for three performances only: Monday, August 22 at 6:15pm, Wednesday August 24 at 9:00pm and Saturday August 27 at 3:30pm. All performances will be held at the Hudson Guild Theatre, 441 W. 26th Street (between 9th-10th).
