The Dramatists Guild of America has just announced the recipients of their annual awards, which will be presented at an awards ceremony hosted by Lisa Kron on Monday, November 5, 2012, at the Players Club in New York. Performers include Amanda Green, Mary Testa, and Kenita Miller.

On the heels of its sold-out and acclaimed season opener featuring countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, dancer Jared Angle and harpsichordist Bradley Brookshire at The Players Club, Salon/Sanctuary Concerts-the series that presents early music in intimate alternative venues-brings back by popular demand From Ghetto to Palazzo, a fascinating concert of works by Jewish-Italian composer Salamone Rossi (c. 1570 - 1630) on Sunday, November 4 at 4:00pm. Performers include the vocal sextet The Western Wind Ensemble with Charles Weaver, lute and Gabe Shuford, harpsichord, and cantor Daniel Singer.

Washington National Opera (WNO) will present the world premieres of three new 20-minute operas on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater: The Game of Hearts by composer Douglas Pew and librettist Dara Weinberg, Part of the Act by composer Liam Wade and librettist John Grimmett, and Charon by composer Scott Perkins and librettist Nat Cassidy. The three operas, each highlighting American culture and themes, are the first new works created under the auspices of the American Opera Initiative, WNO's new commissioning program.

The Diva and the Baritone, stars Metropolitan Opera baritone Theodore Lambrinos and soprano Hallie Neill. Elliot Finkel, a concert pianist with the chops of a Broadway musical director wrote the arrangements to showcase the couple's amazing vocal talents in a surprising mix of Broadway, opera and the best of the Great American songbook.

Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw presents George Bernard Shaw's final full-length play, BUOYANT BILLIONS, on Monday, October 22nd at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. David Staller produces and directs.

FIRST TIME FEST (FTF) - a celebration of first time filmmakers - is a new and unique film festival, event and opportunity taking place in New York City from March 1 through March 4, 2013. FTF is currently seeking submissions for its inaugural event.

The Players Club of Swarthmore's Children's Theater Series kicks off its season with Bunnicula, a vampire themed story just in time for Halloween, opening October 5.

David Staller produces and directs.

Satellite Ballet will present two ballets that showcase the company's commitment to complete collaborationon Friday, November 2 at 8 pm at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, 524 W. 59th Street. The program includes two works choreographed by Troy Schumacher: the NY premiere of Warehouse under the Hudson and Epistasis, both accompanied by live music and multimedia projections.

Actor Michael Clarke Duncan has passed away at age 54. Today, friends, colleagues and fellow actors expressed their sadness at the passing of the beloved actor on Twitter

The Associated Press reports that actor Michael Clarke Duncan has passed away at age 54. According to a statement released by publicist Joy Fehily, Duncan died Monday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was being treated for a heart attack.
