Winners Announced For Critics Awards For Theatre In Scotland

From innovative digital technology to ghost stories by candlelight, an interactive on-stage performance/game show to role-playing lichen love stories, The Lowry, Salford has revealed its contemporary season for the Autumn 2023.

When the cast of “Hadestown” emerge on stage at the National Theatre waving to the waiting audience, they’re received with cheers like old friends. 

Performances begin in one week for the U.S. Premiere of the international comedy sensation and 2023 Olivier Award nominated ONE WOMAN SHOW, written and performed by Liz Kingsman, in her New York stage debut.

Pentabus has announced their 2023 Summer/Autumn Season which features one new commission, one new digital theatre online release, four new Associate Artists and the return of Pentabus Young Writers live production with seven new brilliant plays.

Concluding COAL MINE THEATRE’s buzzy first season in their new home at 2076 Danforth Avenue – award-winning director Mitchell Cushman returns to the east end to direct the Canadian premiere of UK writer Lucy Prebble’s Critics Circle award-winning THE EFFECT – on stage July 9 – 30 (Media night: July 13).

Following a highly acclaimed tour across the UK and Ireland, the National Theatre’s smash-hit production of The Ocean at the End of the Lane will return to London’s West End for a strictly limited 7-week run this autumn. 

Director Craig Baldwin brings the Australian premiere to the Seymour stage. He has assembled a fine cast who bring truth and reality to every character.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie, the smash-hit and critically acclaimed musical, has announced the return of Hayley Tamaddon (Coronation Street, Emmerdale) as Miss Hedge, having previously appeared in the West End production at the Apollo Theatre.

Mark Rylance returns to the West End this summer in Dr Semmelweis opening at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 11 July, with previews from 29 June, and running until Saturday 7 October.

Kiln Theatre has announced that Indhu Rubasingham will step down as Artistic Director of the company, leaving early 2024, having led the company for over a decade.

The award-winning, critically acclaimed 5-star production of Martin Sherman's ROSE will extend at the Ambassadors Theatre, due to phenomenal demand. Two extra matinees are now on sale, with tickets available for Saturday 10 and Saturday 17 June at 2.30pm.
