Hartford Stage Reveals 50th Anniversary Season

From its humble roots in a warehouse on Kinsley Street to its current national prominence as a Tony Award-winning theatre, Hartford Stage proclaims a new era today in announcing its 50th Anniversary Season, including classical repertory for a new generation; a world premiere musical-comedy; and a dynamic rejuvenation of its holiday favorite, A Christmas Carol, according to Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts. Having delighted millions of theatregoers over the past half-century - 110,000 this year alone, Hartford Stage has produced numerous plays with an enduring impact on the American theatre.

Performance Network Theatre Extends GOOD PEOPLE Through 4/7

Performance Network Theatre is selling out performances to "Good People" by David Lindsay-Abaire and has decided to extend the run an extra week with a 7:30pm performance on April 4, a 3pm and 8pm performance on April 6, and a final performance at 2pm on April 7, 2013. "Good People" - a 2011 Tony Nominee for Best Play - is studded with a cast of good friends and all-star talent.

The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati Presents CINDERELLA, Opening 4/12

The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati ends its 88th MainStage Season with "Disney's Cinderella KIDS," directed and choreographed by Jay Goodlett, music and lyrics by Mack David, Al Hoffman and Jerry Livingston, book adapted and additional lyrics by Marcy Heisler, music adapted and arranged by Bryan Louiselle, based on the screenplay by Ken Anderson and Homer Brightman.

KINGDOM UNDONE Opens at the Southern, 3/15

Kingdom Undone, by Jeremiah and Vanessa Gamble, opens on March 15 at the Southern Theater. This critically acclaimed work with a compelling twist on the last days of Jesus and Judas runs through March 30.

David Green, Jon Lutyens and More Star in Arizona Theatre's THE SUNSHINE BOYS, Now thru 3/23

Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) brings Neil Simon's comic masterpiece about show business, friendship and growing old, 'The Sunshine Boys' to Arizona audiences. David Ira Goldstein directs one of Neil Simon's most beloved and acclaimed plays in ATC's new production that will premiere in Tucson for three weeks of performances and continue to Phoenix for an additional three weeks. ATC's 'The Sunshine Boys' opens at the Temple of Music and Art, running from tonight, March 2, 2013 through March 23, 2013. It continues its run in Phoenix at the Herberger Theater Center from March 28, 2013 through April 14, 2013.

Performance Network Theatre Presents GET IN THE GAME Today

It's not often that high school students get a chance to write a play and see it performed on stage by professional actors, but at Romulus Community High School, that's about to change. Today, February 28th, thanks to a unique partnership between the High School, Henry Ford Community College, Project A.C.E. and the professional theatre Performance Network, 20 students from the Drama class, along with 80 of their schoolmates will watch a professionally produced theatre performance that reflects their experience as students facing the choice of higher education. While not directly penned by the students themselves, the play was written based on a series of in-class interviews and conversations about the real-life challenges that students face with regard to the decision to go - or not go - to college.

Performance Network Theatre Extends Pay-What-You-Can Thursdays for GOOD PEOPLE

Performance Network Theatre extends the Pay-What-You-Can Thursday discount to all Thursday performances during the entire run of Good People. Ten Pay-What-You-Can tickets will be made available the day of the show for each Thursday performance and will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis now through March 31st, 2013. Tony Nominee for Best Play in 2011, Good People is a story of a mother's reality in the 21st century in the "Southie" District of Boston. To claim Pay-What-You-Can Thursday tickets, please call the box office the day of the show at 734-663-0681 - the box office opens at 10am on Thursdays. Limit two tickets per person.

Just a two years after its Broadway debut, Performance Network Theatre will engage, challenge, and inspire audiences to discover the hilarity and tragedy of hard work versus sheer luck with the 2011 Tony Nominee for Best New Play, Good People by David Lindsay-Abaire previewing tonight, February 21st-February 29th, opening with a champagne reception on March 1st with performances through March 31st.

Philadelphia Theatre Company Presents PTC@Play, Now thru 3/3

Philadelphia Theatre Company presents PTC@Play, a two-week festival of new work today, February 18-March 3 at PTC's home at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets). The festival will feature staged readings of four new plays by both established and emerging playwrights, a new play with music in development starring Tony and Barrymore Award winner Forrest McClendon as African American vaudeville legend Bert Williams, and an evening of short plays, FuturePhilly@Play, by seven emerging playwrights. Each playwright will be in-residence at PTC for their reading, and every reading will conclude with a reception where audiences and artists can meet. All events are free with curtain time at 7:30 PM. A highlight of PTC@Play will be the February 18th announcement of the winner of the Terrence McNally New Play Award, a $10,000 cash prize given annually to recognize a new play that celebrates the transformative power of art.

New Victory Theater Presents THE MARK OF ZORRO by Visible Fictions, Now thru 2/24

From acclaimEd Scottish theater company Visible Fictions (Jason and the Argonauts, New Vic 2009), comes The Mark of Zorro, a thrilling tale about a mysterious masked avenger. By using simple props and physical ingenuity, the cast of three whizzes through a multitude of characters, conjuring all the drama, wit and suspense of an action flick. The Mark of Zorro will run at The New Victory Theater, 209 West 42nd Street, from tonight, February 8 through February 24, 2013.

Orlando Shakespeare Theater Opens THE ODYSSEY, 2/14
