The Theatre School at DePaul University proudly presents LIZZIE BRIGHT AND THE BUCKMINSTER BOY, based on the book by Gary D. Schmidt, adapted by Cheryl L. West, and directed by John Jenkins, as the second piece in the 2012-2013 Chicago Playworks for Families and Young Audiences Series. This production opens Saturday, January 19, and runs through Saturday, March 2, 2013, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre.

The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati and Santa will bring local audiences a lot to smile about this holiday season. TCTC's production of "Santa's Toy Factory" will feature not only LOCAL 12's morning team of anchor Bob Herzog and meteorologist John Gumm as the Miser Brothers (Heat and Snow, respectively -- you might remember them from the 1970s TV special The Year Without a Santa Claus), but also, 16 year-old Eben Franckewitz fresh off American Idol starring as the show's leading character, Wendell the Elf. Eben made history last season when he was the youngest American Idol hopeful to ever make it into the top 24.

Performance Network Theatre and Eastern Michigan University Theatre will be popping the champagne on this year's New Year's Eve with a collaborative staged reading of Striking 12, a jazzy holiday musical with an eclectic, vibrant pop/rock/jazz score, on the Performance Network stage on December 31st starting at 9pm, then followed by a champagne reception at the stroke of midnight.

Hartford Children's Theatre (HCT) announced today they will close and end all programming, including their children's theatre educational programs, at the end of December 2012. Hartford Stage simultaneously announced that it will expand its children's theatre drama education and outreach programs starting in January 2013.

Sightings of a mysterious green figure wearing a Santa suit have been occurring throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul, and activity has been traced back to Children's Theatre Company (CTC) and its current tenant, The Grinch (Grinch). Photographs of Grinch creating chaos in CTC offices and the Whittier neighborhood were found by CTC staff on Monday, October 29. Surveillance camera footage confirms that Grinch has been sneaking around the Target lobby, stealing Dr. Seuss merchandise from kiosks. CTC announced in a recent email broadcast that the holiday cheer threat level has been raised. Watch footage of Grinch caught on camera below!
