Performance Network Extends MY NAME IS ASHER LEV Through 9/15

Performance Network has announced the extension of their summer smash-hit co-production with Jewish Ensemble Theatre (JET), "My Name is Asher Lev" adapted by Aaron Posner from the novel by Chaim Potok, directed by David Magidson (Artistic Director of JET), starring Naz Edwards, Mitchell Koory, and John Seibert. Extension performances will take place on Saturday, September 14 at 8pm and Sunday, September 15 at 2pm at Performance Network Theatre in Downtown Ann Arbor. Performance Network Invites Audiences to BACKSTAGE ART SHOW, 9/8

Performance Network Theatre and Ugly Mug Cafe & Roastery have announced the first Backstage Art Show in which audiences are escorted backstage after the 85 minute performance of 'My Name is Asher Lev' to engage with works by local visual artists Mike Aul, Dora Diaspora, Alex Mandrila, and Dan Muholland now through September 8.

Children's Theatre of Cincinnati to Present ANNIE JR., 10/18-26

Leapin' Lizards! The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati opens its 89th MainStage season with a production of "Annie JR." at the Taft Theatre October 18-20 & 26, 2013. The popular comic strip heroine takes center stage in one of the world's best-loved musicals. With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan.

Performance Network Theatre Announces New Community Partner Program

Performance Network Theatre has created a revolutionary Community Partner Program to facilitate change by raising awareness about other non-profit organizations, such as Jewish Family Services, that work toward the issues presented in a current production. The mission of the Community Partner Program is to harness the energy and inspiration an audience feels after a live performance and funnel it back into the community. Performance Network is currently partnering with Jewish Family Services for 'My Name is Asher Lev' adapted by Aaron Posner from the novel by Chaim Potok.

BWW Interviews: Director Marc Robin Thrives on 'Regional Theatre Playground'

He has directed and choreographed over three hundred shows on American regional theatres stages from Chicago to Philadelphia to Houston, Kansas City, and Phoenix, been nominated for over seventy awards, won sixteen of fifty-three Joseph Jefferson nominations! He is currently the full time Artistic Director of the Fulton Theatre in Lancaster, PA, but that will not stop him in the coming season from staging productions not only in Lancaster, but also in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Brunswick, ME, to name but a few gigs already planned. 'Regional theatres are the places that are focusing on art first and commercial aspects second. Regional is where new works begin today and where quality theatre exists. I love the playground of regional theatre,' the Florida born, fifty-two-year-old Marc Robin exclaims with enthusiasm when I am able to catch up with him shortly after the opening of Maine State Music Theatre's highly acclaimed East coast regional premiere of Mary Poppins. Robin, who also staged Dreamgirls and LES MISERABLES in Brunswick this summer, confides, 'I like to be busy. I don't wind down. I always think I am supposed to be doing something. But that's because my work is my passion.'

Performance Network Theatre to Open 2013-14 Season with AN ILIAD, 9/26-10/27

A contemporary theatrical dramatization of Homer's masterpiece, 'An Iliad' adapted by Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare makes its Michigan Premiere on September 26 through October 27, 2013 with an all star cast and high-end designers at Performance Network Theatre, Michigan's most award winning professional theatre as their season opener. Kyle Loven and Paurl Walsh to Star in Guthrie Theater's MOON SHOW 143; Cast Announced!

The Guthrie Theater today announced the casting and creative team for the presentation of the Dowling Studio's 2013-14 season opener Moon Show 143 by Minnesota-bred, Seattle-based theater and visual artist Kyle Loven. Loven's body of work combines puppetry, projections and other art forms with live actors. Nick Hubbard will direct the world premiere of this production inspired by moon myths and beliefs from around the world.

PINKALICIOUS to Return to Way Off Broadway, 9/14-11/2

Pinkalicious - The Musical, which will run from September 14 - November 2, 2013, is the tale, based on the popular book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann, of Pinkalicious, who can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe - a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this pink predicament.

'Gypsy is a dream come true for me. I have been involved with Maine State Music Theatre since 1993, and to become part of the family is very special.' Raymond Marc Dumont's eyes sparkle and he glows with enthusiasm as he talks about his current involvement with the company as choreographer for their production of Gypsy which runs from July 17- August 3 at the Pickard Theatre in Brunswick, ME. Not only is this production a homecoming for the Maine-born and raised actor, director, and choreographer, but it his first gig as a member of SDC, the directors and choreographers union. People's Light & Theatre Honored with Harold Oaks Award for Work with Young Actors

People's Light & Theatre was the recipient of the Harold Oaks Award in recognition of their work with young audiences in connection with their recent production of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. In its inaugural year, the award was established to acknowledge the significant contributions of individuals and organizations in the Theatre for Young Audiences field in the US. Award candidates are nominated based on the regional, national, and/or global impact of their work on the artistic development of the field.

Hartford Stage Awarded $25,000 Shakespeare in American Communities Grant

The National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest has selected Hartford Stage to participate in Shakespeare in American Communities and receive a $25,000 grant for its upcoming production ofMacbeth to help support performances and educational activities, including in-school residencies, workshops, or post-performance discussions.

Arden Theatre Company Announces 2013-14 Season

For the Arden's 26th Season of great stories by great storytellers, the company presents a daring and ambitious musical, dramas that grapple with the complicated notion of the American family, provocative pieces by contemporary playwrights, and a new approach to a classic text. Says Arden's Producing Artistic Director Terrence J. Nolen: "The 2013/14 season will include a remarkable range of stories by master storytellers. We are proud to produce the work of Jason Robert Brown, Lydia Diamond, and Alfred Uhry at the Arden for the first time, and are thrilled to welcome plays by Philadelphia writers Quiara Alegria Hudes and Michael Hollinger to our stages. The coming year also includes a new translation by Curt Columbus of Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters, and adaptations of Louis Sachar's Sideways Stories from Wayside School and Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat. Coming this fall, we will also open the Hamilton Family Arts Center, our new education and production center. We are thrilled by the prospect of creating our 2013/14 productions in this great new space.'
