World Premiere of THE BRIGHTEST THING IN THE WORLD & More Announced for Yale Rep 2022-23 Season

Yale Repertory Theatre has announced its 2022–23 season of four plays. The season will begin with Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, running October 6–29. James Bundy, who directed Albee’s A Delicate Balance at Yale Rep in 2010, will stage this new production of the explosively comedic and harrowingly profound masterpiece. 

White Heron Theatre Company Creates Pre-Professional Training Intensive

White Heron Theatre Company of Nantucket today announced 'The Intensive,' a pre-professional training opportunity for students 18 and older. The Intensive's faculty includes nationally recognized leaders in the entertainment industry and is hosted at the White Heron's state-of-the-art facility June 10 - 12.

TFANA to Present Alice Childress's WEDDING BAND

TFANA will present Alice Childress’s Wedding Band. Director Awoye Timpo’s new staging, running April 23–May 15, brings Childress’s masterpiece to New York audiences for the first time since 1972, when it made its New York premiere in a production directed by Childress and Joseph Papp.

The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts today announced its 2022-2023 season. The new Ordway Presents Series features four concerts, including Broadway titan Patti LuPone and multi-genre recording artist and instrumentalist Damien Sneed.

Stage and Screen Actor William Hurt Dies at 71

While best known for his roles in film, Hurt got his start on the stage in the 1970s. He appeared on Broadway in Hurlyburly in 1984, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. Hurt also performed in various off-Broadway productions including Henry V, Fifth of July, Richard II and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Theatre Odyssey Awards First VERNA SAFRAN PRIVE to Jake Pettingell

The first Verna Safran Prize ($1,000) has been awarded to Jake Pettingell, a Sarasotan who attends Saint Stephen's Episcopal School, for his play THE REAL WORLD, set in a post-nuclear war era about a family of four living together in a military bunker. Directed by Blake Walton, the play was performed at the festival by actors Owen DeMaio, Jude DeMaio, Ann Morrison (who, with a day's notice, replaced an actor who became ill), and Tony Boothby.
