Ninth Planet has announced the March 25, 2023 world premiere at Herbst Theater in San Francisco of a major new chamber opera, PROSPERO'S ISLAND based on Shakespeare's The Tempest, by composer Allen Shearer and librettist Claudia Stevens.

The Apollo and The Joyce Theater has announced that they are partnering together to present a cross-town celebration of three dance and theater works, known collectively as The Trilogy, by award-winning choreographer & director Camille A. Brown, October 25 through November 5, 2022.

When Opera Philadelphia's renowned Festival O returns this September for the first time since 2019, it will not only bring multiple live opera performances to several spaces in the city; it will also spawn a new film festival within the opera festival, composed of some 30 cinematic operas over 12 screenings at the Philadelphia Film Center.

The George London Foundation for Singers presents three events at The Morgan Library & Museum in the 2022-23 season: the 51st annual George London Foundation Competition for American and Canadian opera singers, one of the opera world's most prestigious competitions, and two recitals showcasing recent winners: rising stars mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis and baritone Benjamin Taylor, who both won their George London Awards in 2018.

Six composers have been invited to participate in a lab environment prioritizing craft, innovation, and building a community of next generation film music artists. The American Symphony Orchestra completes its 60th anniversary season on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 8 PM. Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO) names Dr. Naomi André as Scholar-in-Residence for the 2022 Festival Season. The residency is made possible through a Humanities Iowa Grant from the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. 

OPERA America is pleased to announce the selection of Stephanie Fleischmann as the 2022 Campbell Opera Librettist Prize recipient. Conceived and funded by acclaimed librettist and lyricist Mark Campbell, the Prize is the first award in the history of American opera created specifically to honor the work of opera librettists, and comes with a $7,000 award to support the winner’s creative and career development.
