BWW Review: Concept Overwhelms Content in Elevator Repair Service's MEASURE FOR MEASURE
by Michael Dale - Oct 14, 2017

Regarded by The Public Theater's artistic director Oskar Eustice as a resident company of the Astor Place venue, Elevator Repair Service's niche has always been productions with a clear focus on words, such as their fully staged complete-text reading of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 'The Great Gatsby,' titled GATZ, or ARGUENDO, their legal vaudeville centered on documents pertaining to a Supreme Court case regarding strip clubs and the First Amendment.

by Andrew White - Mar 2, 2017

Elevator Repair Service, a New York company with a decided literary turn, has brought its lengthy but satisfying staging of Hemingway's first novel, 'The Sun Also Rises,' to Shakespeare Theatre Company's Landsburgh stage for a healthy Washington run. For Hemingway fans, this is reason enough to make a pilgrimage downtown; for theatre enthusiasts, even those who wouldn't normally touch Hemingway with a 10-foot-pole, the sheer exuberance and creativity of the ensemble should be a huge draw.
